Anne Parillaud was born in Paris, France on May 6, 1960 and even thoughall her travels took her to many lands, is still a Paris resident. Annestudied ballet in school, and her first appearance was in the filmUn amour de sable (1977) whereshe played "La jeune fille avec un petit chat" ("The girl with akitten"). However, her first real role was as "Estelle" inL'hôtel de la plage (1978)and, even though she had only appeared in this film during summervacation, by then she had caught the show business bug. Anne was ineight other films, and then she gave her breakout performance in hersignature role as "Nikita" in the wildly popularNikita (1990), which spun off the AmericanremakePoint of No Return (1993)starringBridget Fonda, and the USANetwork television seriesNikita (1997)starringPeta Wilson. Anne had taken judolessons for three months to prepare for this part. Anne said that whenacting, she can abandon herself; indeed the character Nikita is nothinglike her. Anne hates guns and even said of Nikita: "For a while, shewas in me like a demon".

When it comes to which films and directors to work with, Anne has herone rule: it must touch her heart. Obviously directorLuc Besson touched her heart, they had adaughter together, but the couple separated shortly afterNikita (1990); (in 1997, Besson wasbriefly married toMilla Jovovich, butthey divorced). Anne traveled to America to do several films, includingInnocent Blood (1992), in whichshe plays a French vampire. She said of her character "Marie", that shewasn't born a vampire, didn't decide to be one; in that sense, themovie is a parable about dealing with the problem of being different insociety. And difference equates to loneliness. Anne is still busyappearing in movies. Offscreen, Anne enjoys simple pleasures such asdancing, and talking with friends. And she is always led by her heart,Anne says she is someone who lives by impulse first. Her many fanswould say it seems she has made a lot of right choices.
