2022 50TH INTERNATIONAL EMMY® AWARDS
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the winners of the 49th International Emmy® Awards Monday, November 21, at a Black-Tie Gala hosted by actress and comedianYvonne Orji at Casa Cipriani in New York City.
Emmy® Statues were presented in 11 categories withNominees spanning a record number of 24 countries. Nominee trailers and exclusive interviews can be viewed on the 2021 International Emmy® World Television Festival online platform.
Dr. Thomas Bellut, Director General of German national broadcaster ZDF, one of Europe’s major and most renowned public broadcasters, will receive the International Academy’s 2021 Directorate Emmy® Award,
The International Academy is looking forward to reopening its doors for an evening of in-person celebrations and remains committed to adhering to CDC and WHO guidelines to ensure we are abiding by all Covid Safety protocols at the time of the event.
All attendees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (guests must have received their second/final shot at least two weeks prior to the event) AND must present a negative COVID-19 test taken prior to the event. The International Academy presented 1 Special Award and 12 Emmys across 11 categories, due to a tie in the Non-English Language U.S. Primetime category.
13-year-old Billy Barratt accepted the Emmy for Best Performance by an Actor for his role as Ray in Responsible Child. He is the youngest actor ever nominated and winning in this category.
Glenda Jackson won the Emmy for Best Performance by an Actress for her role as Maud in Elizabeth is Missing.
Drama Series Delhi Crime garnered the first ever Emmy for a program from India.
The 12 winning International Emmy programs and performances span 7 countries: Australia, Brazil, Czech Republic, France, India, the UK and the US. They are: Vertige de la Chute (Ressaca) - Arts Programming, Billy Barratt - Best Performance by an Actor, Glenda Jackson - Best Performance by an Actress, Ninguém Tá Olhando (Nobody's Looking) - Comedy, For Sama - Documentary, Delhi Crime - Drama Series, La Reina del Sur - Season 2 - Non-English Language U.S. Primetime Program, 20th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards® - Non-English Language U.S. Primetime Program, Old People's Home For 4 Year Olds - Non-Scripted Entertainment, #martyisdead - Short-Form Series, Órfãos Da Terra (Orphans of a Nation) - Telenovela, and Responsible Child - TV Movie/Mini-Series.
The cast of presenters included a mix of New York based and international actors and on-air talent. The New York based cast included: Kelsey Asbille (Fargo, Yellowstone), Paul Blackthorne (Arrow), Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Tim Daly (Madam Secretary), Naturi Naughton (Power), Tom Payne (Prodigal Son, The Walking Dead), Nico Tortorella (Younger, The Walking Dead: The World Beyond) Indira Varma (For Life, Game of Thrones). The international cast included: Haluk Bilginer from Istanbul, Turkey (2019 International Emmy® Winner and star of Ay Yapim's Persona), Caroline Peters from Cologne NRW, Germany (Actress and Writer), Caua Reymond from Rio, Brazil (star of Globo's Iron Island), Miguel Angel Silvestre from Madrid, Spain (HBO's 30 Coins) and Xiaotian Fu from Hong Kong, PR China, (Host of Phoenix's Talk with World Leaders).
The International Emmy® World Television Festival showcases all of the Nominated Programs in the lead up to the International Emmy® Awards Ceremony.
