Lisa Meikle Burtenshaw was raised in Idaho Falls and graduated in 1992 from Bonneville High School. After graduating from high school, she attended Ricks College and graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. She spent several summers and a full year interning at the INL, working in a robotics lab for the cleanup of Pit 9.
Lisa moved back to Idaho Falls in 2002, where her husband, Bryce, began at Family Dental Health Center. In 2008 she became a trustee for Idaho Falls District 91 and served on that board for 10 years, including six years as the Chairwoman.
In April of 2021, she was appointed to the Idaho Falls City Council and was re-elected to a four-year term starting in January 2022. In December of 2025, she was elected to the office of Mayor, and her 4-year term began in January 2026. Her passion in the city is to work closely and proactively, planning for current and anticipated rapid growth throughout the region. She loves Idaho Falls and works to make it a great place to live, raise a family, and grow a business.
She has been married to Bryce Burtenshaw for 28 years, and they are the parents of 4 adult children. Lisa loves spending time with her family participating in outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking, road biking, and gardening.
