Stevenson. Located just off the southwestern point of Orkney Mainland, across from the Hoy Sound lighthouses on Graemsay. (The unusual name of the island is somewhat redundant: abrough is a fort, and Birsey is from the Norsebyrgisey, meaning fort island.) The island is accessible at low tide by a concretewalkway;parking is provided on the Mainland side, but check the tide schedules to avoid being strabded on the island.
