The discount bonanza holidays are upon us, and that means Plex Pass should be on sale soon, right? Right! If you want to know when the next Plex Pass sale is, I’m here to tell you it shouldn’t be long.
Though it’s unknown what the sale will be, or even what products will be included, it’s inevitable that Plex will be on sale sometime in the next week. Here’s everything you need to know about the next Plex Pass sale.
Plex Pass saw major price increases this year
For the longest time, the cost ofPlex Pass remained the same. In fact, from 2015 through the beginning of this year, the price of Plex Pass didn’t change once.
However, back in March, Plex made a change that the community wasn’t all that happy with:more than doubling the cost of a lifetime Plex Pass. What used to cost $120 now costs $250, and both the monthly and annual Plex Pass subscriptions went up in price, too.

What Is Plex Pass, and Is It Worth It?
Not familiar with Plex Pass? Here are all the features that make it worth considering.
Black Friday is the best time to buy Plex Pass
Since Plex Pass has more than doubled in cost, sales are even more valuable now than they have ever been. In the past, Plex Pass has gone on sale for 25% off the lifetime purchase. This meant that the $120 purchase dropped to $90, saving a total of $30. However, if Plex was to apply the same percentage off today, it would drop from $250 to $187.50—a much more significant saving.
The problem is, since the price increase, we’ve only seen the annual subscription go on sale. During Pro Week 2025, Plex Pass dropped from its $70 price down to $42, which is a 40% discount. At the very least, I’d expect to see Plex Pass annual hit 50% off (or $35) for Black Friday, but the actual sale price has yet to be seen yet.

I’m hopeful that the lifetime Plex Pass will go on sale on Black Friday, but not everyone shares the same optimism. Since Plex hasn’t put the lifetime Plex Pass on sale since raising the price, many believe that Plex is trying to phase out the lifetime subscription by making the annual and monthly plans more enticing. However, I think that Plex will most definitely give at leastsome discount to lifetime this Black Friday, even if it doesn’t stack up to the same 25% off that we’ve seen in the past.
The next Plex sale is likely less than one week away
Black Friday is one week away, so you should be ready for Plex to drop in price any moment. Historically, Plex Pass has gone on sale the week of Black Friday, which means you’ve got just a few days left to wait before the best price of the year on my personal favorite media center platform is available.
Even if the lifetime Plex Pass doesn’t go on sale, if you’ve been holding out on picking up a Plex Pass, Black Friday is very likely going to be the best time to get it. I’d caution against the monthly Plex Pass, as it’s unknown how long that discount would stick around (unless Plex spells it out clearly).
However, if you do opt for the annual pricing on sale, then you know that’ll be good through the next year, even if another price increase comes (which I really hope it doesn’t).

Is Plex Pass worth it?
If you’re still on the fence about whether Plex Pass is worth it, there’s a lot to consider. The March change didn’t just bring a new price but also new restrictions. While you used to be able to watch your Plex media outside your local network for free, that’s now locked behind either the Plex Pass or the Remote Watch Pass.
So, if you want to watch your Plex library outside the house, then it might be time to bite the bullet and pick up Plex Pass. With the Remote Watch Pass costing $2 per month or $20 per year, if the annual Plex Pass goes on sale for what I’m expecting, it won’t be much more than just the Remote Watch Pass.
If you’re just getting started with Plex, let me help youavoid the same mistakes that I made when I first got started. The other thing to know with Plex is remote streaming isn’t always easy to set up. Even if you get it set up initially with ease, there’s a big possibility you’ll run into some bumps along the way—sohere’s how I solve my Plex remote streaming problems.
Don't forget thathosting a Plex server has a lot of hidden factors that can pop up over time. From mounting storage costs to the sheer amount of time it takes to get everything working right, there are several things nobody tells you about running a Plex server that I had to learn the hard way.
