UPDATE: 2025/05/08 14:44 EST BY ANDREW HEINZMAN

Oopsie Daisy!

Walmart removed its listing for the Onn 4K Plus streamer shortly after this article was published. However, a commenter atAFTVnews says that they saw the device in-store, so you may be able to find it at select brick-and-mortar Walmart locations.

After leaking in April, the Onn 4K Plus streamer is now listed on Walmart's web store. It isn't available for purchase just yet, but at $30, it looks like it might be the perfect Google TV box for my guest room.

We got our first look at the Onn 4K Plus a few weeks ago afterHome Tester Club, a community-based reviews platform, inadvertently leaked the device by publishing some early reviews ahead of schedule. The leak gave us a decent look at the streaming box, but it didn't reveal pricing or detailed specs.

Walmart'snew listing for the Onn 4K Plus sets the price at a cool $30. And, importantly, it reveals the streaming box's specs, which are far more generous than I had anticipated.

Under the hood, the Onn 4k Plus features a quad-core Amlogic S905X5M processor with 2GB of RAM and, notably, 16GB of storage. Google TV devices like the old Chromecast with Google TV tend to experiencesome annoying problems when they're low on storage, so I definitely appreciate the 16GB capacity in this unit.

I'm also impressed to see support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, as well as the inclusion of a Voice Remote—an essential add-on for any Google TV device, in my opinion (I just wish I could get rid of thatbig fat "Free TV" button). Walmart even implemented Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, which should provide a slight boost in reliability over a wireless connection. An Ethernet port would be nice, but I can deal with Wi-Fi 6.

These specs, while great for the price, obviously fall short of the $100Google TV Streamer orNVIDIA Shield. But I just need a decent, long-lasting, 4K streaming box for my guest room.

I should take a moment to clarify that I'm a longtime Roku fan (and a half-hearted Google TV hater—sorry, but the Google TV interface kinda sucks). I just can't stand Roku's ever-growing,endlessly-intrusive ad campaign, and nobody can convince me to buy an Amazon-branded device, so I'm choosing to tolerate Google TV. I'll probably spring for anexpensive Apple TV box at some point, but that'll be for my living room, since that's where I do most of my TV watching.

TheOnn 4K Plus is currently listed as "out of stock" at the Walmart website, and there's no word on when it will be available. However, as my friend Ben Schoon at9to5Google notes, Onn devices often appear at brick-and-mortar stores before they "officially" launch online. So, I guess I'll stop by Walmart this weekend.
