Try something different:

Verizon has revealed a new bundle deal for subscribers who have a mobile plan and 5G home internet. If you happen to need both, you could save $15 per month on your bill, and potentially get other discounts and credits.

The main feature of this offer is a $15 discount per month on home internet plans for customers who have a postpaid mobile plan. This lowers the starting cost of the most basic home internet plan to $35 a month. Plus, this discount can be combined with existing Verizon discounts for military members, first responders, students, and teachers.

Customers who choose premium home internet plans along with their mobile service will also get an extra $10 credit each month towards popular streaming services like Netflix, HBO Max, the Disney Bundle (which includes Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+), Apple Music Family, or YouTube Premium. This can lead to savings of up to $215 over the year. Additionally, bundling these services allows customers to access "Priority Care," which gives specialized customer support.

This is probably the best part of this deal. Part of my loyalty to T-Mobile comes from its Netflix savings. However, Verizon is really hitting the savings plan out of the park here. Starting in May 2025, the $15 discount will also extend to customers using Verizon's budget mobile brands, like Verizon Prepaid, Total Wireless, Straight Talk Wireless, Tracfone, Simple Mobile, Walmart Family Mobile, and Visible (though Verizon Forward is excluded).

This is pretty big news for Verizon's 146+ million mobile subscribers. Still, the company is trying to significantly grow its fiber and 5G home internet services, aiming to double its fixed wireless subscribers to eight million to nine million and expand its fiber network to reach 35 million to 40 million homes. This means that Verizon is only at around four million subscribers for its fixed wireless service. Bundling seems to be the smartest way to move customers over, as getting good deals involves accepting Verizon for wireless services.

To qualify for the bundle discount, customers need to have an active Verizon postpaid mobile plan and a home internet plan on the same account. The discount applies to Verizon’s 5G Home, LTE Home, and Fios internet plans, but availability can vary depending on location. Customers must also enroll in autopay and paperless billing, and they need to pass a credit check. Some terms and fees may apply, especially for Fios plans.

The $10 monthly credit for streaming services comes with specific terms and age limits. This credit will show up on the bill if the customer keeps an active paid streaming service on their mobile or internet account. Canceling the paid perk, switching plans, or removing it will take away the credit, which typically appears within one to two billing cycles.

The CEO, Sowmynarayan Sampath, mentioned that this approach is meant to meet changing customer needs while giving them more choices and good deals. The goal is to create a smooth experience between mobile and home internet services, providing savings on entertainment and improving customer support. “We built the Verizon model of convergence to meet the changing habits of our customers’ lives and provide them with the most choice in the industry. Customers deserve an amazing network experience at home and on the go, and value on entertainment they cannot get anywhere else. You get more value from Verizon across our full portfolio of products and services versus anyone else in the industry.” - Sampath

To promote the bundle further, Verizon will host a special retail experience in select stores from March 1 to April 4, themed around the HBO showThe White Lotus, which will include interactive elements.

Those interested in this bundle can see if they qualifyon the Verizon website. Those who are on legacy plans should be careful, as you cannot return to legacy plans after you've left them.
