Try something different:

T-Mobile is officially dropping its popular Apple TV "On Us" perk. This means customers on premium plans will soon have to pay a monthly fee for the streaming service. However, it all depends on your plan.

This news is a bit of a bummer for anyone rocking a Magenta MAX, Go5G Plus, or other eligible high-tier plan, since T-Mobile has been excellent about covering streaming costs entirely for years. The company has started texting impacted customers to let them know that the previously free Apple TV subscription will now cost $3 per month.

This change officially kicks in on January 1, 2026. T-Mobile is essentially forcing customers to cover the recent price hike that Apple introduced. The Apple TV service itself saw a price bump back in August 2025, moving from $9.99 a month up to $12.99 a month. Instead of absorbing that additional $3 difference, the carrier is passing that specific cost directly onto the consumer.

We've seen T-Mobile change its pricing and deals offered based on changes in the plans of those services. Netflix, for example, has gone through several price increases and plan changes since T-Mobile partnered with them, yet it still covers the ad-supported tier completely free on those premium plans.

I use the ad-free tier and pay part of it because of this, but it is still cheaper than the alternative. This isn't fun for those who chose these premium plans specifically for the bundled, free streaming perks, but as things get more expensive, someone has to cover it.

It’s important to remember that if you were already paying for Apple TV through your T-Mobile bill, your cost is also increasing. Those customers who were previously paying $9.99 per month will see their monthly charge jump to the new standard $12.99 rate on January 1, 2026. This move aligns T-Mobile’s pricing structure with what Apple charges folks directly for the service.

If you’re one of the impacted customers, and you don’t feel like paying $3 for Apple TV, you’ve got time to manage the change. You can easily remove the add-on from your account before the end of the year. T-Mobile started sending out text messages on November 19, 2025, that link directly to a support page where you can handle the feature removal.

To manage this perk, you’ll need to log into your T-Mobile account online or use the T-Life app. You must be the Primary Account Holder or an Authorized User to make changes to add-ons like this. If you remove Apple TV from your account, this will immediately stop being your method of payment.

If you decide to keep the service, T-Mobile handles the billing for you. This simplifies your monthly payments by consolidating your wireless and streaming charges into one spot.

The bottom line is that the days of completely free Apple TV on T-Mobile are winding down for most of us. Make sure you check your account details and manage your subscription through the T-Life app before January 1st hits if you want to avoid that new $3 monthly charge.
