Maya Moore
From her smooth jump shot to her life’s work as a social justice warrior, Maya Moore helped change the perception of what it means to be an athlete. The do-it-all forward made winning a habit, and yet despite all of her success on the court, the game never defined her. Her natural talent lifted teams to four WNBA championships with the Minnesota Lynx, two Olympic gold medals, three state titles in high school, and two undefeated national championship seasons at the University of Connecticut. Moore was a six-time All-Star, 2013 regular season MVP, 2014 Finals MVP, seven-time All-WNBA performer, and led the league in scoring in 2014. At Connecticut, the four-time All-America was also a three-time Wade Trophy recipient, two-time Wooden and Naismith Award winner, and two-time AP College Player of the Year. Maya Moore played her last game in the WNBA at the age of 29 in order to pursue her passion for family and social justice matters, leaving behind a remarkable record of achievement in only eight professional seasons.
