Broad Green Sets Release Dates for First Six Films
The indie distributor also announced it has acquired U.S. rights to New Zealand drama 'The Dark Horse.'

Courtesy of Sundance International Film FestivalFollowing an aggressive buying spree, upstart distributor Broad Green Pictures has set release dates for its first six films, includingRobert Redford‘s A Walk in the Woods andAndrew Garfield‘s 99 Homes.
The company, launched last year, also announced it has acquired U.S. rights to New Zealand drama The Dark Horse from Seville Pictures International, although it didn’t set a date for that film.James Napier Robertson directed the movie, based on the life of the brilliant chess championGenesis Potini.
DirectorMia Hansen-Love’sEden is first out of the gate, opening in theaters June 19. The French drama explores the 1990s Parisian electronic dance movement as seen through the eyes of DJ groups Cheers and Daft Punk, who together with their friends, plunge into the ephemeral nightlife of sex, drugs and endless music.
On July 10, Broad Green will launchCarlos Marques-Marcet’s10.000 Km, followed by Learning to Drive on Aug. 21.Learning to Drive, a feel-good comedy, starsPatricia Clarkson and Academy Award winnerBen Kingsley.
Walk in the Woods, directed byKen Kwapis, opens midweek on Sept. 2 in order to get a jump on the long Labor Day weekend. The film, based onBill Bryson‘s best-selling memoir, follows two friends as they hike more than 2,000 miles of the Appalachian Trail.Emma Thompson,MarySteenburgen,NickOfferman andKristenSchaal also star in the dramedy, which premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
In a bold move, Broad Green will open a second movie over Labor Day weekend, theJeremy Sisto–David Walton comedyBreak Point, which rolls out Sept. 4. The movie, timed to coincide with the U.S. Open tennis tournament, is about two estranged brothers who reunite to make an improbable run at a Grand Slam tournament title.J.K. Simmons,Amy Smart,Joshua Rush and Adam DeVine co-star.
99 Homes, a financial thriller starring Garfield as a single father who is evicted from his home, opens Sept. 25.Ramin Bahranidirected the indie film, which also starsLaura Dern andMichael Shannon, and made its world premiere at the 2014 Toronto Film Festival.
