Oppenheimer was named best picture at the 2024 Oscars, which were were handed out Sunday.

The film took a total of sevenawards during the night: Christopher Nolan won best director, Cillian Murphy won best actor and Robert Downey Jr. won best supporting actor. The film also won awards for best cinematography, best original score and best film editing.

In a surprise, Emma Stone won best actress forPoor Things, which also snapped up three crafts wins, for best costume design, production design, and makeup and hairstyling. She beat out perceived frontrunner Lily Gladstone, who has scooped up numerous awards for her role inKillers of the Flower Moon.

Heading into the ceremony,Oppenheimer led the 2024 Oscar nominations, with the filmnabbing a total of 13 noms, followed byPoor Things with 11,Killers of the Flower Moonwith 10 andBarbie with eight.

The winners of the 96th annual Academy Awards were unveiled at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. The show was televised live on ABC, with anearlier-than-usual start time this year, and in more than 200 territories worldwide.Jimmy Kimmel returnedfor his fourth stint as host.
