Michael Cera to Voice Robin in ‘Lego Batman’ (Exclusive)

MichaelCera has inked a deal to voice-star as Robin, Batman’spartner-in-crimefighting, inLego Batman, Warner Bros.’ spinoff ofThe Lego Movie.

The film reunites much of the behind-the-brick talent fromLego Movie and featuresWill Arnettreturning as the voice of the Dark Knight.

Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Phil Lordand Christopher Miller, the custodians of theLego screen brand, are producing.Chris McKay, the animation supervisor onLego Movie, is directing.

The script was written by author-screenwriterSethGrahame-Smith.

Cera, additionally, has acquired the film rights toMasters of Atlantis, the novel byCharlesPortis, the author who also wroteTrue Grit.

Cera aims to write the adaptation as not only an acting vehicle but a directing project as well.

The humorousAtlantis, published in 1985, is set in the first half of the20th century and tells of a young man who becomes entangled in a quasi-religious cult, centered on the lost city of Atlantis, named the Gnomon Society.

Up next forCera is a voice-starring role inSausage Party,SethRogen’s animated ensemble set to open Aug. 16.Cera is also writing and starring in Netflix’s revival ofArrested Development.   

He isrepped byICM Partners,Thruline, andLichter Grossman.
