‘The Crow’ to Be Remade by ’28 Weeks Later’ Director

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo has come aboard Relativity's comic adaptation.

'The Crow' Be Remade '28 Weeks Later' Director

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, best known as the director of 28 Weeks Later,has been tapped to direct Relativity’s remake ofThe Crow.

The film is being produced byEdward R. Pressman, Jeff Most,Relativity’s CEORyan Kavanaughand Apaches Entertainment’sEnrique Lopez Lavigneand Belen Atienza.

Crow is based on a gritty black-and-white indie comic by artistJames O’Barr.Miramax made the film adaptation, which gained cult status partially due to star Brandon Lee’s on-set accidental death.

Three sequels and a TV series, each starring a new actor, followed.

The reboot of the title has been in the works since 2007, withStephen Norrington previously attached to direct.

The story follows a rock musician who is murdered while trying to save his fiancee from thugs. He is resurrected by supernatural forces and seeks revenge.

Nick Cave wrote the most recent draft of the script, though sources say a new writer will be brought on to work with Fresnadillo.

Fresnadillo, repped by UTA, is in post on Intruders, an indie thriller starringClive Owenand Daniel Bruhl.

Relativity’s Tooley will serve as executive producer.Jose Ibanez, Pressman Film Corp.’sJon Katz and Apaches’Jesus de la Vega will serve as co-producers.
