At least onefreighter was able to escape the planet's destruction, carrying a dozen evacuee children includingThom-A293. This freighter eventually made contact with anOffice of Naval Intelligence vessel, resulting in Thom's induction into theSPARTAN-III program.[4]
Following the battle, contact with the colony was lost and for at least some parts of the UNSC, its fate was unknown. Even five years later, it hadn't been revealed, a fact that prompted worry inLieutenantJacob Keyes, ashis sister lived on the planet.[5]
