Mahsko is theBanished name for a seaside region ofInstallation 00. It is the site of a massiveForerunner city built atop a cluster ofseven basalt sea stacks arching toward a large peninsula. Each rock column is connected by delicate-looking transport conduits. TheForerunner Dreadnought rests among the structures built upon one of these sea stacks. As ofJune or July 2559, the region wasuncontested as neither the Banished nor the crew of theUNSCSpirit of Fire had yet to lay claim to it.^[1]

Battle for the Ark[edit]

After theProphet of Truth used theAnodyne Spirit to travel to the Ark, the vessel landed amidst the city that crowned one of Mahsko's enormous sea stacks.^[1] Unbeknownst to the Prophet, theKeyship's automated landing was actually facilitated by the fragment ofMendicant Bias stored within the vessel. By landing here, Mendicant Bias was reunited with the rest of its intelligence that had rested on the Ark since the end of the Forerunners'war with theFlood.^[2]

WhenInstallation 08 was fired late in the battle, Mahsko - as with most of the Ark - was devastated in the carnage, leading theCovenant loyalists interred within the keyship to initially believe that the installation had been thoroughly destroyed. However, they later realised that when the Ark began its slow process of rebuilding, the spire featuring Mahsko and the keyship's landing site was just situated extremely far from the beginning of the rebuilding operation.^[3]

A new conflict[edit]

In the midst of theSecond Ark Conflict in 2559, the Banished visited Mahsko with the intent of infiltrating the Keyship and retrieving shards ofaslipspaceflake held within. Fighting throughloyal Covenant warriors that had remained within the vessel for the past seven years, the Banished force was ultimately successful in their mission. With the shards in hand, they retreated to safety, now knowing that Covenant forces still occupied theAnodyne Spirit.^[1]
