A Company is aUNSC Marine Corps company. It was among the first UNSC forces to respond to theCovenant'sinvasion ofMombasa,Kenya during theBattle of Earth.^[1]

History[edit]

A Company arrived on scene during theBattle of Earth inMombasa,Kenya onEarth, andwent on to fight in the city streets ofNew Mombasa. They took heavy casualties immediately after landing; the lieutenant commanding an element of the unit's forces in theNew Mombasa industrial zone was killed upon arrival. Soon after,Staff Sergeant Banks was placed in charge of a command post in anMtangulizi Kampuni building which soon became pinned down by heavy Covenant armor.^[1]

Elements of A Company assistedSpartan John-117 in the destruction of aScarab that was moving through the city. Surviving members of this unit then traveled toInstallation 05 along with John-117 aboard theUNSCIn Amber Clad. It is likely all were killed in either theBattle of the Quarantine Zone or, although unlikely, theFall of High Charity. It is also possible that they were attacked by theFlood as some of thecombat forms spilled out on theIn Amber Clad.

An early depiction of A Company made an appearance in theHalo 2 E3 demo under the designation "405th", which operated inDiego Garcia. In the demo, John-117 was greeted by a Corporal named Perez at the Marine command post, and was led to a Sergeant named Banks, who had taken over command after the Lieutenant was incapacitated.
InPalace Hotel, the appearance of A Company was replaced byKilo Company.Palace Hotel is of debatable canonicity because it greatly contradicts the events, characters, and locations shown in theHalo 2 levelMetropolis, on which the story is based.
It is possible that A Company was part ofE2-BAG/1/7, a battalion identified inPalace Hotel; earlier in the battle, John-117 encountered and fought alongside members of the battalion's Kilo Company.
