Following a thorough procurement process, Halifax Public Libraries has selected the Design-Build Team for the $34.5 million Halifax North Memorial Public Library renovation project in Halifax’s historic North End community. The selected Design-Build team includes the Marco Group, Lydon Lynch Architects and Teeple Architects.  

Halifax Public Libraries' website will be undergoing a maintenance upgrade that will limit access to some account features and E-Library services.

As of September 17, 2025, Halifax Public Libraries’ hoopla borrowing limit is 3 items per month. Access to the full hoopla collection remains unchanged.

Digital requests (Suggestions for Purchase for e-books and e-audiobooks) have moved to Libby. Use Notify Me tags to flag e-books and audiobooks we don’t own, get notified if we buy them, and place a hold to borrow. Learn more!

As of Thursday, September 11, Temporary Library Service is now available at 105 Highfield Park Drive. This means that community members can now visit the temporary portable unit to access and enjoy expanded services.
