Final Exam
Rate this book
On a quiet, secluded springtime campus, students are trying to get through those last couple of exams before escaping home for the long summer ahead. Everything's very predictable. It's the same every year.
Only not this year.
Overnight, what was peaceful-even boring-is shattered by horror, shot through with sickening, terrifying murder at the hands of a demented killer. Identity unknown. Motivation obscure. Death final.
As the knife plunges into yet another unsuspecting body, there seems to be no end in sight....

The sharp glittering steel blade cutting through the car's canvas roof, the couple making out in a secluded night, the blood trickling, thick, sticky, warm. The killer with scuffed brown boots and black laces, a sad giant with a crew cut. The college campus with students leaving for the holidays. The ones left will be stabbed through the cheek, a football hero gets his arms broken and smashed apart by a weight lifting machine. As the killer stalks his victims he clenches the long sharp knife in his teeth, the corners of his mouth trickling blood. The killer with low grunts and groans. A very rare book and happy to have in the collection. The movie isn't talked about that much. Not great but worth a read and watch.

For better or worse, a simplistic slasher story torn to shreds by parenthetical fetishes and bizarrely insular prose (I kinda loved it).

Yikes! This was bad. Makes the 1981 film version seem like a competent thriller. The writing is boring, lazy, and confusing — characters speak but there’s no indication of whose dialogue it is! I had trouble following the action that was happening, and I’ve seen the movie. In all honesty, Final Exam might be the weirdest movie in cinematic history to write a tie-in novelization for. Skip this dreadful book and instead watch the (silly but entertaining) movie with a few cold beers ready to go.
