A must for gamers
This game is truly an experience everyone should try. Most important part of this game is how it's written, it an intriguing story that does not disappoint when the puzzle is solved. It makes a lot of sense and evokes emotion. Like an amazing book/movie.The visuals are amazing, just as the soundtrack, you'll love to explore and go around.Gameplay is turn based, with a reaction mechanic that can be frustrating and get you killed often if you don't time it right.Game could be improved in some aspects, but considering the company size and that is their first game, it is hard not to give an 11/10Worst thing about this game, spoiler warning, is that it ends.

Best JRPG in many years
Great story, with really engaging chacarters and world. The combat can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. The picto system can be used to customize your damage and abilities, like getting extra energy when you dodge, or a chance to set enemies on fire on attack. This with the charcters skills creates a rabbit whole of ways to build the chataracter. There is a great endgame if you really want to test your skill, and the parry/ counter system rewards unserstanding an enemies attack pattern and punishing it. It uses DLSS by default, but there is a way to play it at native resolution by selecting antialiasing in the menu. And with the implementation of nvidia low latency mode the game feels responsive and nice. Playing on a 9800x3d with a 4080 super yields about 100 fps at 1440p, with high settings on native. I should also mention the New Game plus feature is great, and with over 100 hours on other platforms behind me I can safely say I really enjoyed the game.

Gripping story. Characters are complex, you wish that the dialogue would never end. Cutscenes are marvelous. You can watch them like a great movie.Music is varied and rich. Simply a pleasure to listen.

Crème de la Crème
This game sets the bar for me at a perfect video game experience. It's not any singular game mechanic or revolutionary idea that's implemented that makes Clair Obscur what it is, but rather a masterfully crafted sum of its parts. In my 30 years of video gaming, this game has hit like no other. There are frustrations with timing windows (most likely user error though), and Gestral Beach Volleyball is atrocious, but I will do it again for the sake of the GOG achievement. You'll read that it's overhyped; to the contrary I believe overhyped is appropriately hyped in this case. I bought and played "over there", and I immediately bought and can't wait to play here on GOG.Do yourself a favor with this one, stop reading reviews, take the dive and go in blind.

Best surprise in recent years
I had never played a turned based game before, but the trailers pushed me to try this one. It was almost impossible to put it down once I got going. The world and characters are the main appeal to me from the start, and mostly only got better throughout the story, but the combat also ended up being a highlight. With the different set of character skills and dodge/parry system keeping me engaged pretty much at all times. Enemy turns end up playing like a rythme game when the enemy patterns click and it is very satisfying.Only downside to me was doing too much side content before the last act had me a bit overpowered, but I have read it is quite common in JRPGs. But great news: I was definitely NOT overpowered for the final optional boss...
