The Overlord of the Ga State – which hosts the Capital City of Ghana, Accra – His Royal Majesty (HRM) Ga-Mantse Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has paid a historic visit to the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Major General (Maj Gen) Bismarck Kwasi Onwona, to express gratitude to GAF for keeping the peace of the country, and to seek collaboration of mutual interest between his state and Ghana’s military.
HRM the Ga-Mantse’s courtesy call on Friday 7 June, 2024, at the Army Headquarters, Burma Camp, Accra, in the company of a large royal entourage, entailing paramount chiefs, queenmothers, priests and elders of the state, had the COAS and the King hold in-camera consultations, exchange of gifts, and various briefings.
Expressing satisfaction with the performance of the Army, both locally and internationally, the Ga-Mantse cited the outstanding services with dedication, devotion, diligence, discipline, excellence, and professionalism, rendered by the Ghana Army to his state, and to the country as a whole, helping to secure the nation meander through numerous elections, whiles keeping peace with distinction internationally.
Maj Gen BK Onwona used the occasion to reiterate his vision with which he leads the Ghana Army, which has been: to enhance the efficiency of the Army, to ensure the delivery of relevant and efficient training, to deliver effective Administration at all levels of Command, and to revamp the logistic support system of the Army.
He also told of his familiarization tours of all Units under the Command of the Army, which afforded him firsthand insight into areas that needed to be prioritized, for the effective execution of the mission of the Army, such as training and logistics.
HRM Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, who was accorded a high level of honour guard, later presented food items to the Army, whiles General Onwona in turn presented a plaque of honour to the Ga-Mantse.

The royal entourage included the High Priest of the Ga State – Numo Akwaa Mensah III; Chief of Staff, Office of the Ga-Mantse – Justice Julia Naa Yaaley Adjei; Senior Divisional Chief of Asene – Nii Kwaa Donkoh II; Paramount Chief of Akaman – Nii Ayikai III; Paramount Chief of Otublohum – Nii Doodu Nsaki II; Lawyer Nii Armakai-Amarteifio – Barrister of the King; Paramount Chief of Abula – Nii Ahene III; Paramount Chief of Sempe – Nii Adotey Otintor II; Protocol officer – Ambassador Parker-Allotey, amongst many.
