Same kind of jasmine/orchid as Alien. Bear in mind I’ve only worn the original Alien, Goddess and Flora Futura flankers, but this is lighter and airier than all of them. I live on a tropical country so your mileage may vary, but it’s much more humid weather-friendly than the other Alien / Zara Alien dupes, as normally I wouldn’t touch Alien for daytime outdoor usage. Got this on sale in my local Zara, and it’s definitely worth the sale price.

please bring it back

Let me start off by saying this is a unisex fragrance. It smells good, but it smells very woody.
I actually smelled this on my cousin first. He bought it from Zara and I wouldn’t stop asking him what he was wearing. It was such a good feminine-leaning, masculine type of scent. I would say this is for the girlies that love a good unisex fragrance. The Mahogany Teakwood from White Barn kind of girlies, or the Mac Turquatic girlies.
It smells floral, but it also smells like incense. Think of an Iris scented incense stick that’s burning in the back somewhere. I do enjoy this, but I’m more into feminine-leaning fragrances.
I would say it’s fresh, mysterious, incense-y and office appropriate. I think because it’s so unisex, it becomes extremely office appropriate. It smells good, fresh and floral, while also having a dark twist somewhere in the mix. I recommend this for men and women. It smells good.

What a beautiful feminine light scent! Very office-friendly as, if you use only 1 or 2 spritzes, it stops projecting within 5-10 minutes, and becomes a personal scent. I love freesias for their light and intoxicatingly beautiful and sweet scent, and I'm not sure there are freesias in here, but it is absolutely a beautiful scent.
I find most contemporary perfumes project too strongly as I don't like constantly smelling my perfume; I prefer breaks from scent with whiffs in between, so that my nose has the time to forget and to appreciate the scent all over again. This one fits that lightly-projecting bill perfectly.
I have the original Alien edp, Alien Essence Absolue, Alien Eau Sublime, Alien Eau Extraordinaire, and this scent is the most comfortable version of it for daily work wear and errands. I'm really surprised by how well it was recreated, minus the heavier elements of myrrh and incense, which is what makes it so wearable even for a walk. I can't remember the Alien edt, but I could say Royal Freesia is like an Alien splash or eau de cologne.
I really love how soft (not harsh, strong, projecting or lasting) some of Zara's fragrances are as they don't give me headaches and I can change to another later in the day and not have the previous scent competing. Royal Freesia is one I can do that with.
My experience of testing the scents reminded me of some things that I thought I might share as they might be influencing your fragrance testing and selecting experiences. The following is not part of the fragrance review.
1) Testers have been sitting out, often under heat and lights, for weeks or months, so some of the more delicate scent notes, such as citruses, and even heavier elements, such as oils, may have turned, or at least changed, compared to what you'll get from a fresh bottle, that you are likely to better protect over the course of its lifetime. So be open to your new bottle smelling better, and usually brighter.
2) Testers often don't have caps so the scent in the straw, which is what you'll be spraying on yourself, may be a little more exposed to oxygen, which also oxidizes certain natural ingredients in the scent and changes the scent a little.
3) Testers will be less than 100% full or even down to the last few milliliters, meaning that oxygen has filled the bottle to a certain extent and oxidized the juice in the bottle, thereby affecting the more fragile scent ingredients. Once again, be open to your new bottle smelling better, and usually brighter.
4) You'll need to try scents for a full wear (i.e. keep it on for several hours to a day) to be able to get a real sense of how it evolves and how you find each phase of it. Some can have really catchy top notes but mid and base notes that aren't that inspiring or that you already have in your collection.
5) Your perception of scents you try will be affected by any fragrance in your base layer of body lotion, foods you ate that day that may be on your breath or tongue (this includes gum), time in your monthly cycle, time of the day and how many scents your nose has been exposed to already that day, if you have a cold, if you are taking any medication, etc.
So if you are springing for an expensive fragrance, it may be well worth your while to give it several tries on different days to make sure you love it under many conditions.
6) Scents lie and project differently on a blotter, vs. on your skin, vs. on your clothes. Some may smell better on one surface vs. another. Try them on all surfaces to find the one that you like best.
7) Try to not wear any scented products if possible on the day you test a new scent so your nose and olfactive brain get the purest version of the new fragrance you are trying.
8) When you try multiple fragrances at a time, your olfactive brain, and your nose, get attracted to and notice the more powerful elements or accords in a scent, as the weaker or softer ones may disappear due to competing strong elements in another scent you are testing at the same time. This may make a real gem not stand out when compared with something with stronger natural ingredients or stronger aromachemicals.
9) Your nose and olfactive brain get tired out when trying different scents, so trying a few in the morning and a few in the afternoon could be better than all in one shot.
10) Some of the modern aromachemicals can sit inside your nose, so you smell them even after they are no longer that present on your skin, giving the impression of being everlasting. Although, truth be told, most modern fragrances are using aromachemicals that do indeed heighten duration and projection.
So, some tips for when you go fragrance shopping:
Try to wear as little competing fragrance that day. Try to keep the same day tests to a minimal number if you can. Try fragrances on skin as well as on clothes. Try to give your nose and brain a short break between smelling each different scent. Try to spray them on parts of you that are far apart so you don't get a whiff of one as you breathe in another. Give yourself time to decide how much you like a fragrance.
And the most important tip, have fun! Buying a fragrance is partaking in a luxury that many around the world cannot hope to experience. Enjoy this luxurious experience and moment of girly fun!

ajrose10/17/23 06:25
This has the same jasmine that you find in Alien so I totally get the comparison. Luckily, this is balanced by orris, pink pepper, orchid and woods, to soften the overall scent and make it wearable for those that can't wear Alien (like me) but don't hate Alien. If you dislike Alien, this scent probably isn't for you. I took a chance because I love orris and pink pepper. I'm wearing this today. So far it is clean smelling with both a waxy and slightly sweet powderiness. So far, so good.
SpiderMarc10/05/23 12:41
I don’t really know how Alien smells but I do not fancy this at all.
The reviews looked great but I’m just underwhelmed.
If you’re a big fan of Jasmine scents then you might enjoy this… as for me, all I get is jasmine and nothing much else.
Tsmarcondes09/19/23 13:51
I just sprayed on the store and now, after a little drydown, I'm feeling a "roses on ice by Killian" vibe (no dupe, but maybe a little dash of it). It's really fresh with a floral touch. I will buy and return later with more comments on it.
Edit: It's fresh and floral, and the dominance of the pink pepper and the cedar makes this a beautiful fragrance. The vibe I mentioned above is not accurate, but there is a small resemblance on the freshness, and this one has that hint of niche perfumery. I'm not familiar with Alien, so I can't talk about it. I bought it for 5,99 the smaller bottle in Zara and couldn't be more satisfied, especially considering that it has at least 3 hours I sprayed and I still can feel it.
Livroyale09/18/23 17:01
Alien where please?
Vile, why is it smelling like car tire
Wish I could return it.
Smells like I’m about to go to pick out a casket at a funeral home. God forbid
The white florals are just giving old, washed out, rancid.
If you like that, baby go ahead and spend those coins.
Only last 1hours tops on my skin
Morgan4509/16/23 13:07
Very much a lighter "Alien". Same vibe without knocking people over or becoming cloying. Really decent lasting power for a Zara scent, especially on clothes. Very clean smelling. If you like Alien but not the weight of it or the price, this might be up your alley.
Paolavvh09/10/23 12:05
Huele muy bien!!!!! Demasiado!
andie_x09/02/23 21:10
So happy to have found this!
I adore Alien but i can’t wear it as much as I’d like as it’s too much for my city’s hot humid weather.
This is the same beautiful jasmine in Alien but feels much lighter and wearable.
Jabouba08/18/23 06:38
I don’t think it smells like Alien like some said but it’s still a pretty scent. I really love it and wish it was more concentrated.
Frabra8807/14/23 21:16
Good news for anyone who seemed to love it, as of now the 80ml has just been added to the site! Together with all the others florals from Chapter 5.

is it discontinued? I cant find it nowhere.(

What a wonderful little surprise treat this was. I went to Zara with a friend after just purchasing multiple bottles the day prior. I overlooked this because I don't like freesia. It, like peony, is a very cheap scent note and any time it's listed I know the fragrance is going to smell like bathroom soap at some point.
But I forgot that Zara likes to screw with people and there's absolutely no freesia in this fragrance (possibly why it's spelled wrong but who knows lol)
This is sweet and beautiful. It reminds me of a Chanel or Estee Lauder fragrance. Just very feminine soft and alluring. I literally jumped back and sniffed my hand like crazy cuz surely this can't be the way this fragrance smells. And for an hour I sniffed and sniffed and it only got better. Don't sleep on this one! It's very good. Clean but not soapy. Just a sexy coy coquette pink beauty. I'm going to enjoy her greatly.
hellonina06/08/23 00:30
I just purchased this, and I had no idea why it smelled so familiar... until I read the comparisons to Alien. I actually got Alien as a gift a while back, thinking I would love it based on the scent notes... but Alien and I did not get along. For me, Alien has some type of syrupy note that smells sickeningly cloying- not even overly sweet, just "thick" and cloying. Alien is extremely heavy on me and such a mismatch for my chemistry that I couldn't stand it. Funnily or sadly enough, this $15 perfume is what I WANTED from Alien. It is extremely similar but brighter, purer, and lighter. I would say this may be better suited to spring/summer, while Alien for me was a very heavy fall/winter scent. I'm hoping this one does better on my skin chemistry, and if anyone else was disappointed with Alien, this might be your winner.
Frabra8806/04/23 07:08
Mmm...dirty, stinky, indolic jasmine that turns soapy and waxy, with a touch of dusty tuberose, pink pepper, amber and light wood; green, lightly spicy and powdery!!!
It is now on sale for half its price, if you are interested, so I thought to leave a review.
I don't think this is a proper Mugler's Alien edp or edt dupe (but it is more similar to the edt, minus the citrus notes), it's more transparent and powdery then that, the only think really similar is the jasmine in it which is worked in the same way, sour, waxy and wrapped in a sort of bitter and warm amber, but the similarity ends there, it is of course not as complex or complete as Mugler, nor as sweet and thick.
The beauty of this little bottle
though is that the jasmine is stinky!!! So stinky! Unfortunatelly this lovely peculiar facet lasts only for about 15 to 20 minutes, so you must respray if that is what you want out of it. Nobody mention it but I found it a touch more indolic and dirty then the jasmine in Alien, and more powdery, the jasmine in Alien is lucid and glossy compared to this.
Personally I love skanky flowers, it was a lovely surprise! But after this initial burst it becomes more green, and even soapy.
We all seam to agree that there is clearly no fresia in it, which is mentioned in the description given by the brand but not in the notes. I didn't pick up the orchid note either, nor its usual sweetness, however I think there is a bit of tuberose too, mostly green and carnal and dusty. There is clearly a soft spicy element, the pink pepper, which graces ever so sightly the jasmine petals.
I would not go so far as to say that orris is in here, but the scent is surely powdery, the closing is all amber with a bit of woody notes (very light touches, not really cedar to my nose); the jasmine is still clearly present in the dry down although much more clean, green and demure at this stage, something musky is there too, similar to another aspect of Alien but not that proper strong cashmeran.
I don't find this sweet at all...actually I think it is a tad earthy and green. I also noted that if you smell it from very close it is much more similar to Alien, when you get whiffs of it in the air however it reads more powdery then that (and something similar to liquorice can be felt). In any case, if you already have Alien or its similar, this may surely seem redundant.
Of course the mood of the scent is, again, very similar to that of Alien, which everyone knows and recognizes, yet remains special and unforgettable for many people. When wearing this kind of strong based jasmine perfumes a sort of "imprinting" effect happens, others will remember you for it.
Alien is enchanting and mysterious, exotic and elegant, a concentrated overdose of feminine high-tech jasmine near one of the most memorable and peculiar amber accord ever, in my opinion. And jasmine has a strange effect on the human mind...it is narcotic and hypnotic, a potent essence. That of Alien is particularly so, Royal Freesia resambles it, and even if more light and translucid has an equal potent jasmine in amber so the effect is bound to be almost the same.
Performance is ok, do not expect something like the other Zara Chapters (like Red Temptation to make an example), this last for 4 to 5 hours, it projects strongly for the first hour and then fades to moderate in to intimate. Overspraying helps, but you will be a jamime bomb walking!!
It's priced at 12,95€ for 30ml, now on sale for 7,95€, so Zara amped up the price a lot (considering before they were selling the 30ml of the Chapter line for less then 10,00€ as standard price).
I personally found the new Chapter 5 and 6 a little sub par in comparison to the other, at least in terms of intensity and scent profiles, but I still bought them and enjoyed them, specially the Lilac and Wisteria ones, beautiful for layering.
On the particular case of this fragrance I was expecting a feminine, light, floral and powdery scent, I was hoping for some virginal yet spicy Fresia, not for a sort of Alien dupe...had I known this I surely wouldn't have bought it since I already own the original Alien edp, a few samples of the edt, Alyssa Ashley Esoteric, a sample of Morriselle Pour Elle Le Parfum by Morris (which is very potent and well done) and other similar ones based on strong jasmine that I almost never spray.
I am keen to use this scent profile/strong jasmine only in those rare days that I really feel feminine and beautiful, when I am truly well dressed and my makeup is impeccable, which as of now are quite few in a whole year. It is as if that dna, based on heady and sexy white flowers, speaks to me of an unattainable perfection so, although I enjoy it and I appreciate it on others, I refrain from using it on me.
The name Royal Fresia is quite a joke, has nothing to do with the scent, it's almost a trap!!!
PetyaK05/25/23 05:54
Resembles MARFA by Memo Paris - tuberose more than fresia really
ozlemmenguloglu05/21/23 06:38
Great longevity.. i wish it was 100 ml
Miss198005/20/23 13:50
Fresh, flowery and sweet. A milder Angel dupe. Although it's an EDP, the scent doesn't stay that long. Unfortunately.
rorokoko05/12/23 19:19
Demure powdery jasmine. Nothing like Alien, which is intense and very sweet.
People - not everything with a prominent jasmine note smells like Alien lol

It's a TM Alien clone. It's softer than the Alien, but there's really no freesia in it.

Just wish that someone had proofread the name of the fragrance at Zara HQ before sending the packaging for printing. Still, added to my list.
