A plethora of Latin artists invaded Downtown Miami Thursday night for the awaited 2011 “Premio Lo Nuestro” awards ceremony—the Spanish version of the “People’s Choice Awards.”

Held at theAmerican Airlines Arena the ceremony honored the best in Latin music.

Pop/rock group Camila took home the awards for “Pop Album of the Year,” “Best Group or Duet of the Year,” and “Song of the Year.”

The Mexican group, which also took home multiple awards at theLatin Grammy ceremony in November, beat artists such as Alejandro Sanz, with his popular album “Paraíso Express,” and the Puerto Rican stunner Chayanne, with his record “No hay imposibles.”

The sultryShakirabeat other pop divas such as Paulina Rubio, Nelly Furtado and Thalía in the “Female Artist of the Year” category whileour good boy gone bad singerEnrique Iglesias won the award for “Male Artist of the Year.”

Colombian rock starJuanes’Twitterefforts to promote his musicseemed to have worked.

The singer/songwriter took home the awards for “Song of the Year” and “Artist of the Year” in the rock category. Meanwhile, Draco won the award for “Album of the Year.”

For new artists, Nacho y Chino, the night couldn’t have been sweeter.

The Venezuelan duet beat veteran musician Juan Luis Guerra and took home the gold—“Album of the Year” in the Tropical music category for their hit single “Mi niña bonita.”

Like the Venezuelans, Prince Royce whose real name is Geoffrey Royce Roja also beat the infamous Dominican Juan Luis Guerra in various categories.

Royce managed to win awards for “Male Artist of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” as well as “Solo or Group Breakthrough Artist of the Year” in the Tropical music category.

Nevertheless, Guerra did win in the “Tropical Merengue Artist of the Year” category while Luis Enrique won the award for “Tropical Salsa Artist of the Year.”

Other Dominicans who scored big were bachateros Aventura who despite rumors of an alleged breakup had a big win Thursday night.

The group owned the “Tropical Traditional Artist of the Year” award, while seasoned Boricua singer Olga Tañon dominated the “Female Artist of the Year” category for Tropical music.

Although she may not have been out in the music scene as long as Tañon, this has not stopped Jenni Rivera from gaining quite the audience.

The norteña singer recently released a single withRicky Martin—the banda version ofhis new single “The Best Thing About Me Is You.”

Like Tañon, Rivera took home Thursday night awards for “Artist of the Year” in the Regional music category.

She also won the award for “Ranchera Artist of the Year.” Fellow Mexicans known as Banda el Recodo won “Album of the Year,” Group or Duet of the Year,” and “Song of the Year” for their hit “Me gusta todo de ti."

Even though they scored big in those three categories, Banda el Recodo did not beat Los Tigeres del Norte for “Norteño Artist of the Year.”

Another band called Grupo Montéz de Durango won “Duranguese Artist of the Year,” while Joan Sebastían won “Grupero Artist of the Year.”

The Alapha male in the Regional music category this year was none other than Espinoza Paz who won the recognition for “Male Artist of the Year,” and “Band Artist of the year.”

Reggaetoneros Wisin y Yandel took “Album of the Year,” for their work “La Revolución: Evolución,” “Song of the Year” for their single “Te siento,” and the coveted “Premio Lo Nuestro Artist of the Year,” Award beating fellow artists such Daddy Yankee, Angel y Khriz and Tony Dize in the Urban category.

Dyland and Lenny were honored with the award for “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” and Miami nativePitbull took home “Artist of the Year” award.

For their Romantic Ballard togetherEnrique Iglesias and Juan Luis Guerra won “Collaboration of the Year while the raunchy Belinda and Cubanito Pitbull took the home the prize for “Video of the Year.”
