About the Author

Edward Paice was a History Scholar at Cambridge and winner of theLeman prize. After a decade working in the City he spent four yearsliving and writing in East Africa. His acclaimed biography LostLion of Empire: The Life of 'Cape-to-Cairo' Grogan, nominated byThe Week as 'Best Newcomer', was published in 2001. Edward Paicewas awarded a Visting Fellowship by Magdalene College, Cambridge in2003-4. He is married.
