Notes –Lepidosphaeriais distinguished from other genera inTestudinaceaeby its ascospores that are 2–3-seriate, ornamented, finely echinulate, oblong, tuberculate with brown to pale brown, 1-septate and darker at septum, constricted at septum, minute granules (Hawksworth 1979, Doilom et al. 2018).Zopfia punctatawas synonymized asLepidosphaeria punctataby Hawksworth & Booth (1974), later referred to asZopfiofoveola punctataby Hawksworth (1979). Multi-gene sequence analyses showed thatL. nicotiaenested with species ofUlosporaandVerruculina(Schoch et al. 2009a). Cultures and molecular data are available for this taxon (Kruys & Wedin 2009, Wijayawardene et al. 2018).
