About me

Alcohol_map_legend.tiff
Presence of alcoholic beverages among 186 non-industrial societies.

I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Linguistic and Cultural Evolution. I am focusing on cross-cultural research using data from eHRAF World Cultures or D-PLACE. So far, I have done research on different topics such as slavery, architecture, weapons, post-marital residence or human mobility in general.

In DLCE, I study production and consumption of alcoholic beverages in non-industrial societies. My main research questions are: 1) Why some societies produce alcoholic beverages, while others do not; and 2) what exactly is the causal relationship between alcohol consumption and social complexity.
