14 Theherdsmenfledandtolditinthecityandinthecountry.Andpeoplecametoseewhatitwasthathadhappened.15 AndtheycametoJesusandsawthedemon-possessed3man,theonewhohadhadcthelegion,sittingthere,dclothedandinhisrightmind,andtheywereafraid.16 Andthosewhohadseenitdescribedtothemwhathadhappenedtothedemon-possessedmanandtothepigs.17 AndetheybegantobegJesus4todepartfromtheirregion.18 Ashewasgettingintotheboat,themanwhohadbeenpossessedwithdemonsbeggedhimthathemightbewithhim.19 Andhedidnotpermithimbutsaidtohim,“GohometoyourfriendsandftellthemhowmuchtheLordhasdoneforyou,andhowhehashadmercyonyou.”20 AndhewentawayandbegantoproclaimingtheDecapolishowmuchJesushaddoneforhim,andeveryonemarveled.

21 AndwhenJesushadcrossedagainintheboattotheotherside,agreatcrowdgatheredabouthim,andhewasbesidethesea.22 hThencameoneofitherulersofthesynagogue,Jairusbyname,andseeinghim,hefellathisfeet23 andimploredhimearnestly,saying,“Mylittledaughterisatthepointofdeath.Comeandjlayyourhandsonher,sothatshemaybemadewellandlive.”24 Andhewentwithhim.
Andagreatcrowdfollowedhimandkthrongedabouthim.25 Andtherewasawomanlwhohadhadadischargeofbloodfortwelveyears,26 andwhohadsufferedmuchundermanyphysicians,andhadspentallthatshehad,andwasnobetterbutrathergrewworse.27 ShehadheardthereportsaboutJesusandcameupbehindhiminthecrowdandtouchedhisgarment.28 Forshesaid,“IfItouchevenhisgarments,Iwillbemadewell.”29 mAndimmediatelytheflowofblooddriedup,andshefeltinherbodythatshewashealedofherndisease.30 AndJesus,perceivinginhimselfthatopowerhadgoneoutfromhim,immediatelyturnedaboutinthecrowdandsaid,“Whotouchedmygarments?”31 Andhisdisciplessaidtohim,“Youseethecrowdpressingaroundyou,andyetyousay,‘Whotouchedme?’”32 Andhelookedaroundtoseewhohaddoneit.33 Butthewoman,knowingwhathadhappenedtoher,cameinfearandtremblingandfelldownbeforehimandtoldhimthewholetruth.34 Andhesaidtoher,“Daughter,pyourfaithhasmadeyouwell;pgoinpeace,andbehealedofyourndisease.”
35 Whilehewasstillspeaking,therecamefromqtheruler’shousesomewhosaid,“Yourdaughterisdead.WhyrtroublestheTeacheranyfurther?”36 Butoverhearing5whattheysaid,Jesussaidtoqtherulerofthesynagogue,“Donotfear,onlybelieve.”37 AndheallowednoonetofollowhimexcepttPeterandJamesanduJohnthebrotherofJames.38 Theycametothehouseoftherulerofthesynagogue,andJesus6sawacommotion,peopleweepingandwailingloudly.39 Andwhenhehadentered,hesaidtothem,v“Whyareyoumakingacommotionandweeping?Thechildisnotdeadbutwsleeping.”40 Andtheylaughedathim.Buthexputthemalloutsideandtookthechild’sfatherandmotherandthosewhowerewithhimandwentinwherethechildwas.41 yTakingherbythehandhesaidtoher,“Talithacumi,”whichmeans,“Littlegirl,Isaytoyou,zarise.”42 Andimmediatelythegirlgotupandbeganwalking(forshewastwelveyearsofage),andtheywereimmediatelyovercomewithamazement.43 Andahestrictlychargedthemthatnooneshouldknowthis,andtoldthemtogivehersomethingtoeat.

22 AndtheycamejtoBethsaida.Andsomepeoplebroughttohimablindmanandbeggedhimtotouchhim.23 Andkhetooktheblindmanbythehandandledhimoutofthevillage,andwhenkhehadlspitonhiseyesandmlaidhishandsonhim,heaskedhim,“Doyouseeanything?”24 Andhelookedupandsaid,“Iseepeople,buttheylookliketrees,walking.”25 ThenJesus3laidhishandsonhiseyesagain;andheopenedhiseyes,hissightwasrestored,andhesaweverythingclearly.26 Andhesenthimtohishome,saying,n“Donotevenenterthevillage.”

27 oAndJesuswentonwithhisdisciplestothevillagesofCaesareaPhilippi.Andonthewayheaskedhisdisciples,“WhodopeoplesaythatIam?”28 Andtheytoldhim,p“JohntheBaptist;andotherssay,qElijah;andothers,oneoftheprophets.”29 Andheaskedthem,“ButwhodoyousaythatIam?”Peteransweredhim,r“YouarestheChrist.”30 tAndhestrictlychargedthemtotellnooneabouthim.
Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection
31 uAndhebegantoteachthemthatvtheSonofManmustwsuffermanythingsandxberejectedbytheeldersandthechiefpriestsandthescribesandbekilled,andyafterthreedaysriseagain.32 Andhesaidthiszplainly.AndPetertookhimasideandbegantorebukehim.33 Butturningandseeinghisdisciples,herebukedPeterandsaid,a“Getbehindme,Satan!ForyoubarenotsettingyourmindonthethingsofGod,butonthethingsofman.”
34 Andcallingthecrowdtohimwithhisdisciples,hesaidtothem,“Ifanyonewouldcomeafterme,lethimcdenyhimselfanddtakeuphiscrossandfollowme.35 Fordwhoeverwouldsavehislife4willloseit,butwhoeverloseshislifeformysakeeandthegospel’swillsaveit.36 fForwhatdoesitprofitamantogainthewholeworldandforfeithissoul?37 Forgwhatcanamangiveinreturnforhissoul?38 Forhwhoeverisashamedofmeandofmywordsinthisiadulterousandsinfulgeneration,ofhimwilltheSonofManalsobeashamedjwhenhecomesinthegloryofhisFatherwithktheholyangels.”
