22 AndagainJesusospoketotheminparables,saying,2 p“Thekingdomofheavenmaybecomparedtoakingwhogaveqaweddingfeastforhisson,3 andrsenthisservants1tocallthosewhowereinvitedtotheweddingfeast,buttheywouldnotcome.4 sAgainhesentotherservants,saying,‘Tellthosewhoareinvited,“See,Ihavepreparedmytdinner,umyoxenandmyfatcalveshavebeenslaughtered,andeverythingisready.Cometotheweddingfeast.”’5 Butvtheypaidnoattentionandwentoff,onetohisfarm,anothertohisbusiness,6 whiletherestseizedhisservants,wtreatedthemshamefully,andxkilledthem.7 Thekingwasangry,andhesenthistroopsandydestroyedthosemurderersandburnedtheircity.8 Thenhesaidtohisservants,‘Theweddingfeastisready,butthoseinvitedwerenotzworthy.9 Gothereforetothemainroadsandinvitetotheweddingfeastasmanyasyoufind.’10 Andthoseservantswentoutintotheroadsandbgatheredallwhomtheyfound,bothbadandgood.Sotheweddinghallwasfilledwithguests.
11 “Butwhenthekingcameintolookattheguests,hesawtherecamanwhohadnoweddinggarment.12 Andhesaidtohim,d‘Friend,howdidyougetinherewithoutaweddinggarment?’Andhewasspeechless.13 Thenthekingsaidtotheattendants,‘Bindhimhandandfootandecasthimintotheouterdarkness.Inthatplaceetherewillbeweepingandgnashingofteeth.’14 Formanyarefcalled,butfewarefchosen.”
Paying Taxes to Caesar

26 vNowastheywereeating,Jesustookbread,andwafterblessingitbrokeitandgaveittothedisciples,andsaid,“Take,eat;xthisismybody.”27 Andhetookacup,andwhenheyhadgiventhankshegaveittothem,saying,“Drinkofit,allofyou,28 forxthisismyzbloodofthe3covenant,whichispouredoutforamanybfortheforgivenessofsins.29 ItellyouIwillnotdrinkagainofthisfruitofthevineuntilthatdaywhenIdrinkitnewwithyoucinmyFather’skingdom.”

30 dAndwhentheyhadsungahymn,etheywentouttoftheMountofOlives.31 ThenJesussaidtothem,“Youwillallfallawaybecauseofmethisnight.Foritiswritten,‘Iwillgstriketheshepherd,andthesheepoftheflockwillbescattered.’32 ButafterIamraisedup,hIwillgobeforeyoutoGalilee.”33 iPeteransweredhim,“Thoughtheyallfallawaybecauseofyou,Iwillneverfallaway.”34 jJesussaidtohim,“Truly,Itellyou,thisverynight,kbeforetheroostercrows,youwilldenymethreetimes.”35 lPetersaidtohim,“EvenifImustdiewithyou,Iwillnotdenyyou!”Andallthedisciplessaidthesame.

36 mThenJesuswentwiththemetoaplacecalledGethsemane,andhesaidtohisdisciples,“Sithere,whileIgooverthereandpray.”37 AndtakingwithhimnPeterandothetwosonsofZebedee,hebegantobesorrowfulandtroubled.38 Thenhesaidtothem,p“Mysoulisverysorrowful,eventodeath;remainhere,andqwatch4withme.”39 Andgoingalittlefartherhefellonhisfacerandprayed,saying,“MyFather,ifitbepossible,letsthiscuppassfromme;tnevertheless,notasIwill,butasyouwill.”40 Andhecametothedisciplesandfoundthemsleeping.AndhesaidtoPeter,“So,couldyounotwatchwithmeonehour?41 qWatchandupraythatyouvmaynotenterintotemptation.Thespiritindeediswilling,butthefleshisweak.”42 Again,forthesecondtime,hewentawayandprayed,“MyFather,ifthiscannotpassunlessIdrinkit,wyourwillbedone.”43 Andagainhecameandfoundthemsleeping,forxtheireyeswereheavy.44 So,leavingthemagain,hewentawayandprayedforythethirdtime,sayingthesamewordsagain.45 Thenhecametothedisciplesandsaidtothem,“Sleepandtakeyourrestlateron.5See,zthehourisathand,andatheSonofManisbetrayedintothehandsofsinners.46 Rise,letusbegoing;see,mybetrayerisathand.”

47 bWhilehewasstillspeaking,cJudascame,oneofthetwelve,andwithhimagreatcrowdwithswordsandclubs,fromthechiefpriestsandtheeldersofthepeople.48 Nowthebetrayerhadgiventhemasign,saying,“TheoneIwillkissistheman;seizehim.”49 AndhecameuptoJesusatonceandsaid,“Greetings,dRabbi!”Andhekissedhim.50 Jesussaidtohim,e“Friend,fdowhatyoucametodo.”6ThentheycameupandlaidhandsonJesusandseizedhim.51 Andbehold,oneofthosewhowerewithJesusstretchedouthishandanddrewhisgswordandstrucktheservant7ofthehighpriestandcutoffhisear.52 ThenJesussaidtohim,“Putyourswordbackintoitsplace.Forhallwhotaketheswordwillperishbythesword.53 iDoyouthinkthatIcannotappealtomyFather,andhewillatoncesendmejmorethantwelveklegionsofangels?54 lButhowthenshouldtheScripturesbefulfilled,thatitmustbeso?”55 AtthathourJesussaidtothecrowds,“Haveyoucomeoutasagainstarobber,withswordsandclubstocaptureme?DayafterdaymIsatinthetemplenteaching,andyoudidnotseizeme.56 ButlallthishastakenplacethattheScripturesoftheprophetsmightbefulfilled.”oThenallthediscipleslefthimandfled.

57 pThenqthosewhohadseizedJesusledhimtorCaiaphasthehighpriest,wherethescribesandtheeldershadgathered.58 AndsPeterwasfollowinghimatadistance,asfarasrthecourtyardofthehighpriest,andgoinginsidehesatwithttheguardstoseetheend.59 Nowthechiefpriestsandthewholecouncil8uwereseekingfalsetestimonyagainstJesusthattheymightputhimtodeath,60 buttheyfoundnone,vthoughmanyfalsewitnessescameforward.Atlastwtwocameforward61 andsaid,“Thismansaid,x‘IamabletoydestroythetempleofGod,andtorebuilditinthreedays.’”62 Andthehighprieststoodupandsaid,“Haveyounoanswertomake?Whatisitthatthesementestifyagainstyou?”963 zButJesusremainedsilent.aAndthehighpriestsaidtohim,b“IadjureyoubycthelivingGod,dtellusifyouareetheChrist,ftheSonofGod.”64 Jesussaidtohim,g“Youhavesaidso.ButItellyou,fromnowonhyouwillseetheSonofManiseatedattherighthandofPowerandhcomingonthecloudsofheaven.”65 Thenthehighpriestjtorehisrobesandsaid,k“Hehasutteredblasphemy.Whatfurtherwitnessesdoweneed?Youhavenowheardhisblasphemy.66 Whatisyourjudgment?”Theyanswered,l“Hedeservesdeath.”67 Thenmtheyspitinhisfacenandostruckhim.Andsomeslappedhim,68 saying,“Prophesytous,youpChrist!Whoisitthatstruckyou?”

69 qNowPeterwassittingoutsiderinthecourtyard.Andaservantgirlcameuptohimandsaid,“YoualsowerewithJesustheGalilean.”70 Buthedenieditbeforethemall,saying,“Idonotknowwhatyoumean.”71 Andwhenhewentouttotheentrance,anotherservantgirlsawhim,andshesaidtothebystanders,“ThismanwaswithJesussofNazareth.”72 Andagainhedenieditwithanoath:“Idonotknowtheman.”73 AfteralittlewhilethebystanderscameupandsaidtoPeter,“Certainlyyoutooareoneofthem,fortyouraccentbetraysyou.”74 Thenhebegantoinvokeacurseonhimselfandtoswear,“Idonotknowtheman.”Andimmediatelytheroostercrowed.75 AndPeterrememberedthesayingofJesus,u“Beforetheroostercrows,youwillvdenymethreetimes.”Andhewentoutandweptbitterly.
