27 “Youshallmaketheⁿaltarofacaciawood,fivecubits¹longandfivecubitsbroad.Thealtarshallbesquare,anditsheightshallbethreecubits.2 Andyoushallmake^ohornsforitonitsfourcorners;itshornsshallbeofonepiecewithit,and^pyoushalloverlayitwithbronze.3 Youshallmakepotsforittoreceiveitsashes,andshovelsandbasinsand^qforksandfirepans.Youshallmakeallitsutensilsofbronze.4 Youshallalsomakeforitagrating,anetworkofbronze,andonthenetyoushallmakefourbronzeringsatitsfourcorners.5 Andyoushallsetitundertheledgeofthealtarsothatthenetextendshalfwaydownthealtar.6 Andyoushallmakepolesforthealtar,polesofacaciawood,andoverlaythemwithbronze.7 Andthepolesshallbeputthroughtherings,sothatthepolesareonthetwosidesofthealtarwhenitiscarried.8 Youshallmakeithollow,withboards.^rAsithasbeenshownyouonthemountain,soshallitbemade.

The Court of the Tabernacle

9 ^s“Youshallmakethecourtofthetabernacle.Onthesouthsidethecourtshallhavehangingsoffinetwinedlinenahundredcubitslongforoneside.10 Itstwentypillarsandtheirtwentybasesshallbeofbronze,butthehooksofthepillarsandtheirfilletsshallbeofsilver.11 Andlikewiseforitslengthonthenorthsidethereshallbehangingsahundredcubitslong,itspillarstwentyandtheirbasestwenty,ofbronze,butthehooksofthepillarsandtheirfilletsshallbeofsilver.12 Andforthebreadthofthecourtonthewestsidethereshallbehangingsforfiftycubits,withtenpillarsandtenbases.13 Thebreadthofthecourtonthefronttotheeastshallbefiftycubits.14 Thehangingsfortheonesideofthegateshallbefifteencubits,withtheirthreepillarsandthreebases.15 Ontheothersidethehangingsshallbefifteencubits,withtheirthreepillarsandthreebases.16 Forthegateofthecourtthereshallbe^tascreentwentycubitslong,ofblueandpurpleandscarletyarnsandfinetwinedlinen,embroideredwithneedlework.Itshallhavefourpillarsandwiththemfourbases.17 Allthepillarsaroundthecourtshallbefilletedwithsilver.Theirhooksshallbeofsilver,andtheirbasesofbronze.18 Thelengthofthecourtshallbeahundredcubits,thebreadthfifty,andtheheightfivecubits,withhangingsoffinetwinedlinenandbasesofbronze.19 Alltheutensilsofthetabernacleforeveryuse,andallitspegsandallthepegsofthecourt,shallbeofbronze.

20 ^u“YoushallcommandthepeopleofIsraelthattheybringtoyoupurebeatenoliveoilforthelight,thatalampmayregularlybesetuptoburn.21 ^vInthetentofmeeting,^woutsidetheveilthatisbeforethetestimony,AaronandhissonsshalltenditfromeveningtomorningbeforetheLord.ItshallbeastatuteforevertobeobservedthroughouttheirgenerationsbythepeopleofIsrael.

The Priests’ Garments

28 “Thenbringneartoyou^xAaronyourbrother,andhissonswithhim,fromamongthepeopleofIsrael,toservemeaspriests—AaronandAaron’ssons,^yNadabandAbihu,EleazarandIthamar.2 ^zAndyoushallmakeholygarmentsforAaronyourbrother,forgloryandforbeauty.3 Youshallspeaktoallthe^askillful,whomIhavefilledwithaspiritofskill,thattheymakeAaron’sgarmentstoconsecratehimformypriesthood.4 Thesearethegarmentsthattheyshallmake:a^bbreastpiece,an^cephod,^darobe,^eacoatofcheckerwork,^eaturban,and^easash.TheyshallmakeholygarmentsforAaronyourbrotherandhissonstoservemeaspriests.5 Theyshallreceive^fgold,blueandpurpleandscarletyarns,andfinetwinedlinen.

6 ^g“Andtheyshallmaketheephodofgold,ofblueandpurpleandscarletyarns,andoffinetwinedlinen,skillfullyworked.7 Itshallhavetwoshoulderpiecesattachedtoitstwoedges,sothatitmaybejoinedtogether.8 Andthe^hskillfullywovenbandonitshallbemadelikeitandbeofonepiecewithit,ofgold,blueandpurpleandscarletyarns,andfinetwinedlinen.9 Youshalltaketwoonyxstones,andengraveonthemthenamesofthesonsofIsrael,10 sixoftheirnamesontheonestone,andthenamesoftheremainingsixontheotherstone,intheorderoftheirbirth.11 Asajewelerengravessignets,soshallyouengravethetwostoneswiththenamesofthesonsofIsrael.Youshallenclosetheminsettingsofgoldfiligree.12 Andyoushallsetthetwostonesontheshoulderpiecesoftheephod,asstonesofremembranceforthesonsofIsrael.AndⁱAaronshallbeartheirnamesbeforetheLordonhistwoshoulders^jforremembrance.13 Youshallmakesettingsofgoldfiligree,14 andtwochainsofpuregold,twistedlikecords;andyoushallattachthecordedchainstothesettings.

15 ^k“Youshallmakeabreastpieceofjudgment,inskilledwork.Inthestyleoftheephodyoushallmakeit—ofgold,blueandpurpleandscarletyarns,andfinetwinedlinenshallyoumakeit.16 Itshallbesquareanddoubled,aspan¹itslengthandaspanitsbreadth.17 ^lYoushallsetinitfourrowsofstones.Arowofsardius,²topaz,andcarbuncleshallbethefirstrow;18 andthesecondrowanemerald,asapphire,andadiamond;19 andthethirdrowajacinth,anagate,andanamethyst;20 andthefourthrowaberyl,anonyx,andajasper.Theyshallbesetingoldfiligree.21 ThereshallbetwelvestoneswiththeirnamesaccordingtothenamesofthesonsofIsrael.Theyshallbelikesignets,eachengravedwithitsname,forthetwelvetribes.22 Youshallmakeforthebreastpiecetwistedchainslikecords,ofpuregold.23 Andyoushallmakeforthebreastpiecetworingsofgold,andputthetworingsonthetwoedgesofthebreastpiece.24 Andyoushallputthetwocordsofgoldinthetworingsattheedgesofthebreastpiece.25 Thetwoendsofthetwocordsyoushallattachtothetwosettingsoffiligree,andsoattachitinfronttotheshoulderpiecesoftheephod.26 Youshallmaketworingsofgold,andputthematthetwoendsofthebreastpiece,onitsinsideedgenexttotheephod.27 Andyoushallmaketworingsofgold,andattachtheminfronttothelowerpartofthetwoshoulderpiecesoftheephod,atitsseamabovethe^mskillfullywovenbandoftheephod.28 Andtheyshallbindthebreastpiecebyitsringstotheringsoftheephodwithalaceofblue,sothatitmaylieontheskillfullywovenbandoftheephod,sothatthebreastpieceshallnotcomeloosefromtheephod.29 ⁿSoAaronshallbearthenamesofthesonsofIsraelinthebreastpieceofjudgmentonhisheart,whenhegoesintotheHolyPlace,tobringthemtoregular^oremembrancebeforetheLord.30 Andinthebreastpieceofjudgment^pyoushallputtheUrimandtheThummim,andtheyshallbeonAaron’sheart,whenhegoesinbeforetheLord.ThusAaronshallbearthejudgmentofthepeopleofIsraelonhisheartbeforetheLordregularly.

31 ^q“Youshallmaketherobeoftheephodallofblue.32 Itshallhaveanopeningfortheheadinthemiddleofit,withawovenbindingaroundtheopening,liketheopeninginagarment,³sothatitmaynottear.33 Onitshemyoushallmakepomegranatesofblueandpurpleandscarletyarns,arounditshem,withbellsofgoldbetweenthem,34 agoldenbellandapomegranate,agoldenbellandapomegranate,aroundthehemoftherobe.35 AnditshallbeonAaronwhenheministers,anditssoundshallbeheardwhenhegoesintotheHolyPlacebeforetheLord,andwhenhecomesout,sothathedoesnotdie.

36 “Youshallmake^raplateofpuregoldandengraveonit,liketheengravingofasignet,^s‘HolytotheLord.’37 Andyoushallfastenitontheturbanbyacordofblue.Itshallbeonthefrontoftheturban.38 ItshallbeonAaron’sforehead,andAaronshall^tbearanyguiltfromtheholythingsthatthepeopleofIsraelconsecrateastheirholygifts.Itshallregularlybeonhisforehead,thattheymaybeacceptedbeforetheLord.

39 “Youshallweavethecoatincheckerworkoffinelinen,andyoushallmakeaturbanoffinelinen,andyoushallmakeasashembroideredwithneedlework.

40 ^u“ForAaron’ssonsyoushallmakecoatsandsashesandcaps.Youshallmakethem^vforgloryandbeauty.41 AndyoushallputthemonAaronyourbrother,andonhissonswithhim,andshall^wanointthemandordainthemand^xconsecratethem,thattheymayservemeaspriests.42 Youshallmakeforthem^ylinenundergarmentstocovertheirnakedflesh.Theyshallreachfromthehipstothethighs;43 andtheyshallbeonAaronandonhissonswhentheygointothetentofmeetingorwhentheycomenearthealtartoministerintheHolyPlace,lestthey^zbearguiltanddie.^aThisshallbeastatuteforeverforhimandforhisoffspringafterhim.

Consecration of the Priests

29 “Nowthisiswhatyoushalldotothemtoconsecratethem,thattheymayservemeaspriests.^bTakeonebulloftheherdandtworamswithoutblemish,2 ^candunleavenedbread,unleavenedcakesmixedwithoil,andunleavenedwaferssmearedwithoil.Youshallmakethemoffinewheatflour.3 Youshallputtheminonebasketandbringtheminthebasket,andbringthebullandthetworams.4 YoushallbringAaronandhissonstotheentranceofthetentofmeetingand^dwashthemwithwater.5 Then^eyoushalltakethegarments,andputonAaronthecoatandtherobeoftheephod,andtheephod,andthebreastpiece,andgirdhimwiththe^fskillfullywovenbandoftheephod.6 ^gAndyoushallsettheturbanonhisheadandputtheholycrownontheturban.7 Youshalltake^htheanointingoilandpouritonhisheadandanointhim.8 Thenyouⁱshallbringhissonsandputcoatsonthem,9 andyoushallgirdAaronandhissonswith^jsashesandbindcapsonthem.And^kthepriesthoodshallbetheirsbyastatuteforever.Thusyoushall^lordainAaronandhissons.

10 “Thenyoushallbringthebullbeforethetentofmeeting.^mAaronandhissonsshalllaytheirhandsontheheadofthebull.11 ThenyoushallkillthebullbeforetheLordattheentranceofthetentofmeeting,12 andⁿshalltakepartofthebloodofthebullandputitonthe^ohornsofthealtarwithyourfinger,andtherestof¹thebloodyoushallpouroutatthebaseofthealtar.13 Andyoushalltakeall^pthefatthatcoverstheentrails,andthelonglobeoftheliver,andthetwokidneyswiththefatthatisonthem,andburnthemonthealtar.14 Butthefleshofthebullanditsskinanditsdungyoushallburnwithfire^qoutsidethecamp;^ritisasinoffering.

15 “Then^syoushalltakeoneoftherams,and^tAaronandhissonsshalllaytheirhandsontheheadoftheram,16 andyoushallkilltheramandshalltakeitsbloodandthrowitagainstthesidesofthealtar.17 Thenyoushall^ucuttheramintopieces,andwashitsentrailsanditslegs,andputthemwithitspiecesanditshead,18 andburnthewholeramonthealtar.ItisaburntofferingtotheLord.Itisa^vpleasingaroma,afoodoffering²totheLord.

19 ^w“Youshalltaketheotherram,^tandAaronandhissonsshalllaytheirhandsontheheadoftheram,20 andyoushallkilltheramandtakepartofitsbloodandputitonthetipoftherightearofAaronandonthetipsoftherightearsofhissons,andonthethumbsoftheirrighthandsandonthegreattoesoftheirrightfeet,andthrowtherestofthebloodagainstthesidesofthealtar.21 Thenyoushalltakepartofthebloodthatisonthealtar,andofthe^xanointingoil,andsprinkleitonAaronandhisgarments,andonhissonsandhissons’garmentswithhim.Heandhisgarmentsshallbeholy,andhissonsandhissons’garmentswithhim.

22 “Youshallalsotakethefatfromtheramandthefattailandthe^yfatthatcoverstheentrails,andthelonglobeoftheliverandthetwokidneyswiththefatthatisonthem,andtherightthigh(foritisaramof^zordination),23 and^aoneloafofbreadandonecakeofbreadmadewithoil,andonewaferoutofthebasketofunleavenedbreadthatisbeforetheLord.24 YoushallputalltheseonthepalmsofAaronandonthepalmsofhissons,and^bwavethemforawaveofferingbeforetheLord.25 Then^cyoushalltakethemfromtheirhandsandburnthemonthealtarontopoftheburntoffering,asa^dpleasingaromabeforetheLord.ItisafoodofferingtotheLord.

26 “Youshalltakethe^ebreastoftheramofAaron’s^fordinationand^gwaveitforawaveofferingbeforetheLord,anditshallbeyourportion.27 Andyoushallconsecratethe^hbreastofthewaveofferingthatiswavedandtheⁱthighofthepriests’portionthatiscontributedfromtheramof^fordination,fromwhatwasAaron’sandhissons’.28 ItshallbeforAaronandhissonsasa^jperpetualduefromthepeopleofIsrael,foritisa^gcontribution.Itshallbea^gcontributionfromthepeopleofIsraelfromtheirpeaceofferings,theircontributiontotheLord.

29 “TheholygarmentsofAaron^kshallbeforhissonsafterhim;theyshall^lbeanointedinthemandordainedinthem.30 Thesonwhosucceedshimaspriest,whocomesintothetentofmeetingtoministerintheHolyPlace,shallwearthem^msevendays.

31 “Youshalltaketheramofordinationandⁿboilitsfleshinaholyplace.32 AndAaronandhissonsshalleatthefleshoftheramandthe^obreadthatisinthebasketintheentranceofthetentofmeeting.33 ^pTheyshalleatthosethingswithwhichatonementwasmadeattheirordinationandconsecration,butan^qoutsidershallnoteatofthem,becausetheyareholy.34 Andifanyofthefleshfortheordinationorofthebreadremainuntilthemorning,thenyoushall^rburntheremainderwithfire.Itshallnotbeeaten,becauseitisholy.

35 “ThusyoushalldotoAaronandtohissons,accordingtoallthatIhavecommandedyou.Through^ssevendaysshallyouordainthem,36 andeverydayyoushalloffera^tbullasasinofferingforatonement.Alsoyoushallpurifythealtar,whenyoumakeatonementforit,andshall^uanointittoconsecrateit.37 Sevendaysyoushallmakeatonementforthealtarandconsecrateit,andthe^valtarshallbemostholy.^wWhatevertouchesthealtarshallbecomeholy.

38 “Nowthisiswhatyoushallofferonthealtar:^xtwolambsayearold^ydaybydayregularly.39 Onelambyoushalloffer^zinthemorning,andtheotherlambyoushalloffer^aattwilight.40 Andwiththefirstlambatenthmeasure³offineflourmingledwithafourthofahin⁴ofbeatenoil,andafourthofahinofwineforadrinkoffering.41 Theotherlambyoushalloffer^aattwilight,andshallofferwithitagrainofferinganditsdrinkoffering,as^binthemorning,fora^cpleasingaroma,afoodofferingtotheLord.42 Itshallbea^dregularburntofferingthroughoutyourgenerationsattheentranceofthetentofmeetingbeforetheLord,^ewhereIwillmeetwithyou,tospeaktoyouthere.43 ThereIwillmeetwiththepeopleofIsrael,anditshallbe^fsanctifiedbymyglory.44 Iwillconsecratethetentofmeetingandthealtar.^gAaronalsoandhissonsIwillconsecratetoservemeaspriests.45 ^hIwilldwellamongthepeopleofIsraelandwillbetheirGod.46 AndtheyshallknowthatⁱIamtheLordtheirGod,whobroughtthemoutofthelandofEgyptthatImightdwellamongthem.IamtheLordtheirGod.

The Altar of Incense

30 ^j“Youshallmake^kanaltaronwhichtoburnincense;youshallmakeitofacaciawood.2 Acubit¹shallbeitslength,andacubititsbreadth.Itshallbesquare,andtwocubitsshallbeitsheight.^lItshornsshallbeofonepiecewithit.3 Youshall^moverlayitwithpuregold,itstopandarounditssidesanditshorns.Andyoushallmakeamoldingofgoldaroundit.4 Andyoushallmaketwogoldenringsforit.Underitsmoldingontwooppositesidesofityoushallmakethem,andtheyshallbeⁿholdersforpoleswithwhichtocarryit.5 Youshallmakethepolesofacaciawoodandoverlaythemwithgold.6 Andyoushallputitinfrontoftheveilthatisabovethearkofthetestimony,infrontofthe^omercyseatthatisabovethetestimony,whereIwillmeetwithyou.7 AndAaronshall^pburnfragrantincenseonit.Everymorningwhenhe^qdressesthelampsheshallburnit,8 andwhenAaronsetsupthelampsattwilight,heshallburnit,aregularincenseofferingbeforetheLordthroughoutyourgenerations.9 Youshallnotoffer^runauthorizedincenseonit,oraburntoffering,oragrainoffering,andyoushallnotpouradrinkofferingonit.10 ^sAaronshallmakeatonementonitshornsonceayear.Withthebloodofthe^tsinofferingofatonementheshallmakeatonementforitonceintheyearthroughoutyourgenerations.ItismostholytotheLord.”

The Census Tax

11 TheLordsaidtoMoses,12 ^u“WhenyoutakethecensusofthepeopleofIsrael,theneachshallgive^varansomforhislifetotheLordwhenyounumberthem,thattherebenoplagueamongthemwhenyounumberthem.13 Eachonewhoisnumberedinthecensusshallgivethis:halfashekel²accordingtothe^wshekelofthesanctuary(the^xshekelistwentygerahs),^3yhalfashekelasanofferingtotheLord.14 Everyonewhoisnumberedinthecensus,fromtwentyyearsoldandupward,shallgivetheLord’soffering.15 Therichshallnotgivemore,andthepoorshallnotgiveless,than^ythehalfshekel,whenyougivetheLord’sofferingtomakeatonementforyourlives.16 YoushalltaketheatonementmoneyfromthepeopleofIsraelandshall^zgiveitfortheserviceofthetentofmeeting,thatitmaybringthepeopleofIsraelto^aremembrancebeforetheLord,soastomakeatonementforyourlives.”

The Bronze Basin

17 TheLordsaidtoMoses,18 “Youshallalsomakea^bbasinofbronze,withitsstandofbronze,forwashing.^bYoushallputitbetweenthetentofmeetingandthealtar,andyoushallputwaterinit,19 withwhichAaronandhissons^cshallwashtheirhandsandtheirfeet.20 Whentheygointothetentofmeeting,orwhentheycomenearthealtartominister,toburnafoodoffering⁴totheLord,theyshallwashwithwater,sothattheymaynotdie.21 Theyshallwashtheirhandsandtheirfeet,sothattheymaynotdie.Itshall^dbeastatuteforevertothem,eventohimandtohisoffspringthroughouttheirgenerations.”
