Curtis Granderson just set a new career-high by hitting his 31st home run of the season on Wednesday night. Granderson's previous career-high for homers in a season was 30 in 2009 with Detroit.
Earlier in the evening, Granderson became the fifth Yankees center fielder in team history to hit 30 dingers in a season.Bernie Williams,Mickey Mantle,Joe DiMaggio andBobby Murcer are the others.
For Granderson, it is his third multi-homer game of the season and 10th of his career.
Earlier, Granderson andMark Teixeira became the fifth-fastest pair of Yankees teammates to reach 30 homers. Granderson and Teixeira needed 115 games.
Mantle andRoger Maris needed just 84 games to accomplish the feat back in their record-breaking season of 1961.
