Graham Carey keeps Plymouth's play-off hopes alive

Graham Carey netted a last-gasp penalty as Plymouth kept their League One play-off hopes alive with a 2-1 comeback win over fourth-placed Rotherham.Argyle player of the year Carey won and converted the stoppage-time spot-kick as his side rallied from 1-0 down.Joel Grant had earlier cancelled out Richie Towell's opener before Carey's winner, leaving Plymouth two points off sixth-placed Scunthorpe - who they visit on Tuesday - with two matches remaining. With their play-off place already secured, Rotherham played with a freedom and were duly rewarded when Towell fired the Millers ahead in the 33rd minute.Towell rifled in from the right hand side of the penalty area after being teed up by David Ball, who had an earlier effort ruled out for offside.Grant went solo to level after 61 minutes, sweeping the ball past Millers goalkeeper Marek Rodak from 10 yards. And Carey kept his cool from 12 yards at the death after he was fouled in the box by Will Vaulks.

        Rotherham secure top-six spot

Rotherham sealed their place in the League One play-offs with a hard fought 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers.Michael Smith and substitute Caolan Lavery found the net to leave the Millers, aiming to secure an immediate return to the Championship, fourth in the table. Rotherham stormed ahead in the ninth minute when Smith burst through the defence and curled an unstoppable effort into the top corner. Will Vaulks had two chances moments after the goal but both flew just over the crossbar. The away side's first major opportunity was created by Byron Moore as he danced into the box from the right wing. His eventual shot was weak and was pushed out by Marek Rodak.Rotherham almost got a clinching second goal through substitute Ryan Williams but he could not get a clean enough touch on Joe Newell's near-post cross.Rodak remained alert throughout and he denied Kyle Bennett with a save with his legs. The points were sealed in the 90th minute with Lavery coming off the bench to turn in Newell's centre.

Rotherham close in on play-off place with win at Gillingham

Rotherham all-but sealed their League One play-off place with a 1-0 win at Gillingham. Will Vaulks scored the only goal of the game, but the Millers missed a host of other chances as they move to - in all likelihood - one more victory of a guaranteed place in the top six.Paul Warne's men weathered an early Gills storm, which saw Conor Wilkinson head just over, and took the lead in the 20th minute.Right-back Josh Emmanuel surged down the right and fed it to Michael Smith, who teed it up for Vaulks to smash home from 20 yards.Richard Wood came close to doubling the lead soon after half-time when he ran out of defence all the way to the edge of the area, where his low shot was tipped around the post by Tomas Holy, with Wood's header from the resulting corner blocked. The game should have been over in the 67th minute when Vaulks produced a defence-splitting pass for Ryan Williams, who raced through on goal but dragged his shot wide.Williams also put a free header wide and then Smith wasted the opportunity of the match, blazing wide from Jon Taylor's cross, but the missed chances did not prove costly.

Wigan hold onto top spot despite Rotherham stalemate

Wigan remained top of Sky Bet League One but were forced to settle for a goalless draw at home to fourth-placed Rotherham.Rotherham almost took the lead inside 30 seconds when a Jon Taylor cross found its way to Michael Smith, whose goalbound effort was blocked at point-blank range by Chey Dunkley.Ryan Williams wasted another decent chance for Rotherham, firing straight at Christian Walton.Wigan's first opportunity fell to Will Grigg, but the striker was thwarted by visiting goalkeeper Marek Rodak. An even better chance fell Grigg's way shortly after, but he headed wastefully wide from 10 yards after great work from Nathan Byrne.Wigan were forced into a change at the interval when the out-of-sorts Nick Powell - a big injury doubt in the lead-up - was replaced by Gary Roberts, who quickly became his side's man most likely to create something. But Rotherham remained a threat on the counter, and Williams thought he had opened the scoring when he cut in off the left flank and unleashed a stinging strike from distance that missed the top corner by half a yard.Michael Jacobs stabbed over from a good position for Wigan, but neither side were able to find a breakthrough.
