Siemens and rhobot.ai launch AI solution for manufacturing

Now available on Siemens Xcelerator, the edge-native AI has shown strong results at CarbonAMS, boosting efficiency and output.

Siemens, a provider of industrial automation technology, and rhobot.ai, a developer of probabilistic AI for industrial systems, announced the commercial release of their AI solution for manufacturing.

After deployment at CarbonAMS in Ireland, this edge-native AI is now available through the Siemens Xcelerator digital marketplace, supporting industrial optimization and control.

This collaboration introduces an artificial intelligence solution, different from language models and copilots, designed to handle the operational calculations of manufacturing. It connects directly with factory automation hardware and software at the industrial edge, allowing real-time process optimization, tuning and control.

The work started in 2024 with initial validation at Agbotic Inc., the predecessor of rhobot.ai, where the AI-driven optimization approach was first tested in robotic greenhouses. This development has since evolved into rhobot.ai’s solution, now available for use in various industrial settings.

The deployment of the rhobot.ai Siemens Edge solution at CarbonAMS’s anaerobic digester facility in Ireland was completed without any downtime. The implementation resulted in:

  • 39% decrease in digester parasitic load
  • 2.5% increase in gas output

Based on these results, similar efficiencies could have an annual value of over $1 billion across Europe’s 20,000 digesters. CarbonAMS plans to continue applying the solution across its facilities.

Edge-Native AI: The language of machines

The rhobot.ai solution is designed to operate on the factory edge, integrating with existing industrial controllers. It automatically queries and analyzes data, adjusts machine settings, and refines control logic based on process inputs, while maintaining the reliability and control standards required by industrial operators.

This deployment demonstrates the development of edge-native AI on Siemens IPCs and Industrial Edge Devices, enabling direct communication with machines for more efficient manufacturing operations.
