Editing Rules
Please follow these rules when editing pages!
General Rules
- Vandalism of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes vandalizing pages of other languages and Userpages.
- Please add information fromofficial servers only.
- If you want to make a request to edit a protected page, contact anElEditor or anAdministrator.
- Make sure your edits are clear and understandable to the readers. We understand that not everyone is fluent in English but other editors might not be able to fix your grammatical errors if we don't understand what you are trying to say.
- Remember to proofread your edits before saving them, and make use of the "Preview" option to check if they did not break any content such as tables.
- Follow these rules if you wish to translate pages to another language.
- Do not add any external links to inappropriate websites.
Rules regarding Content
- Do not add useless or obvious information e.g.(Necklace is worn by "this" class)
- Do not add opinions or info that is not canon.
- Do not add trivia about references to other anime, games, or films unless the reference is confirmed to be intentional.
- Do not add speculations of future content updates without providing an official source.
- To avoid confusion, please make sure that all dates are written in one of the following formats:
- MM/DD/YYYY
- [Month] DD, YYYY
- DD [Month] YYYY
- To avoid confusion, please do not use initials when referring to certain classes,Ice Burners, or equipment sets. (For example,TT can refer toTactical Trooper orTime Tracer andGF can refer to theGold Falcon orGrace Fairy sets)
- When editing skills, add information involving gameplay mechanics under theTips and Details section, information about different translated names under theAlternative Names section, and all other information under theTrivia section.
- When creating new pages or uploading new images, check to see if that page/image isn't already created to avoid making duplicates.
- In addition, do not upload images that are not to be used within the wiki itself.
- Only create Templates for content that is reused on a notable amount of different pages.
- Do not write content out in full again if a Template for it already exists. If the Template is deemed incomplete for your use-case, contact anElEditor or anAdministrator.
Rules on Related Skills and Total Damage on Skill Pages
When adding aRelated Skills section on skill pages, please keep the following rules in mind:
- For all skills:
- DO add any skills that directly mention the skill by name.
- DO add any skills that mention any unique classification, such as "Switching Skill" or "El's Resonance Skill".
- Do NOT add any skills that do not belong to the character path of the skill you are editing.
- For Buff/Active/Special Active/Hyper Active/Master Skills:
- DO add anypassives that mention its skill tier, such asResonance orFlexible Mind.
- Do NOT addactive skills that do, such asVerdict orNecromancy.
- Do NOT add any skills that apply a generic cooldown, MP or damage related effect to all skills or a subset of skills not covered by the rules above (ie "Reduces special active cooldown by x%"), unless that skill is covered under the Total Damage rules below (such asKnighthood).
- DO add anypassives that mention its skill tier, such asResonance orFlexible Mind.
- For Passive skills:.
- DO add any other passives that influence specific effects granted by the current passive, such asSoul Collector and any passives that affect theGathered Souls it grants.
- DO add a list of all skills it applies to in accordance with the rules above, if this is not already listed directly on the passive (as is the case withEnhanced Grenades orMemory of the Sword).
When creating aTotal Damage section on skill pages, please keep the following rules in mind:
- Always calculate damage under the assumption of one target, unless the skill has separate damage values for multiple targets, such as[Mod] Hypersonic Stab.
- If a skill is able to do splash damage or has similar mechanics that make it deal exponentially more damage with more targets, please add a bullet point under the table mentioning that this is not accounted for.
- If a skill's maximum damage is dependent on the target's size, create a separate column that calculates damage based on the average number of hits that most targets can receive - this usually means a number between what a Small or Large Training Monkey receives. In addition, write a bullet point under the table to indicate the number of hits.
- When doing hit count tests inFree Training, be aware of the possibility of hit count errors due to a glitch - if possible, verify it elsewhere, such as inEreda Island, and add Free Training (preceded by a space) above the total damage table if the training hit count is determined to be erroneous.
In addition, please avoid using the following effects when performing calculations or creating new damage listings:
- Any additiveeffects, such asMaster of Combat. This effect isadditive
to your current stats.A - Any timed effects, such asAwakening Mode (if it does not directly change the skill's damage or hit count) orWisdom Aura.
- Any one-time effects that aren't permanently available, such asMemory of the Sword's "Every 3rd Conwell Skill" effect.
- Any effects that require a debuff on a target, such asGaze of Abyss orSage's Wisdom.
As an exception to the above rules, please DO add listings for effects that significantly alter how a skill functions, even if it is timed, such asSword of Victory's effect onX-Slash, orLimit Over's G Limiter Release effects. Also, DO add basic character systems such asDestruction Mode along with effects that modify the system; either directly or by providing an additional effect that you cannot opt out of, such asOracle.
Additionally, if the skill's total damage depends on the environment, such asOrchid Fall, DO NOT add its max damage - limit the table to average damage exclusively.
We have recently introducedTemplate:Damage into our Total Damage tables to make adjustments easier in the case of balance patches, as can be seen on for exampleEternal Fog. If the template's documentation doesn't cover your specific case, should you consider either using variables likeCarpet Bombing or hardcoding the calculation likeChaos Cannon.
Rules regarding Userpages
- All user-related pages must be included in the User or User talk namespaces.
- Keep your Userpage's subpages and external images reduced to minimum.
- Elwiki is not a hosting service. Excessive image uploads can be deleted even without a notice.
- If the content of the page is a guide aboutElsword (game) you wish to only maintain on your own, extra space and asset usage if neccessary is understandable.
- Userpages are mostly meant for introduction and can contain anything about you, including game progress, e.g. your character's stats or your account'sEl Resonance level, as long as the content follows the rules.
- Subpages should only be related toElsword (game).
- Keep in mind that Elwiki is not a platform suitable for fanfiction stories.
- If a user is inactive for a very long time, their page might be deleted. Advice to keep it? Contribute to the wiki actively!
- When it comes to purely fanmade pages, not being user introductions, readers must be warned with thisbannerbox beforehand.
Rules regarding translations
You can now add your own language to any Elwiki page. To do so, all you need to do is to follow these simple rules:
- Add
Name_of_Page
to the top of any page you wish to translate. ChangeName_of_Page
to the name of the page you are editing, such asAra
if you are editing theAra page. - Follow the country codehere.
- If you wanted to add an Italian version ofRaven's page, you would go tohttps://elwiki.net:443/w/Raven/it and edit there.
- All links in that page must also be suffixed with
/it
, e.g.Maximum Cannon/it
.
- Add

on top of every page you translate, e.g.
. - Only translate into languages that you or your friend can write in themselves. Do not add machine translations fromGoogle Translate or the like.
- Use

for your direct (raw) file link, e.g.
outputs the link toMedia:Portrait - Shooting Guardian.png. - Since pages might be transcluded somewhere else, PLEASE CLOSE YOUR TAGS IN YOUR PAGES!!! If you fail in doing this, you will waste people's time trying to debug your page when transcluded!
That's all! Thanks.
Rules regarding Server Differences
There are many differences between the Korean server and the North American server. Please follow the following rules in regards to the differences between these servers.
- Pages should be named after the name or terminology used in the North American server. If the content is not released in that server, the translated name from the Korean server will be used instead.
- When the content is released in North America or if the name is changed, the page should be moved to match the proper name.
- All pages with content that are only available on the Korean server should be tagged with theKROnly template. To add this, add KROnly to the top of the page.
- When adding tips or trivia about content, please clarify which server it's pertinent to if it is only applicable to certain servers.
- Alternative names from different servers should be placed within theAlternate Languages template.
- Do not add names to the template if they arewritten identically to the page's title.
Rules regarding Coding
- When creating a link to pages in this wiki,do not use external links if you can use internal. (E.g.https://elwiki.net:443/w/Ara should be written as Ara rather than .) Use fullurl, filepath, etc. instead of raw paths.
- External link to this wiki makes it harder to maintain, as link fix can not deal with those links and will result in broken links.
- Consider creating pages hierarchically, and do not alter the hierarchic structure in language pages.
Namespace Usage
When creating new pages, please select the appropriate namespace/prefix when selecting the page title.
Namespace | Examples | Usage |
---|---|---|
(main) | Elsword Aisha |
|
Talk (all) | Talk: Main Page |

Not following these rules will result in time-outs and bans. If worse comes to worst, the ElEditors and admins will have to lock pages, so please keep these things in mind.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact any ElEditor/Administrator or make a discussion page.
