The 2nd Squad Commander of the Red-Demon Army.

Phase Gimmick

Abyss Crystal

Ran will periodically generate Abyss Crystals randomly across the map. These crystals are counted as obstacles and cannot be destroyed by regular means, only being able to be damaged by Ran'sTether attack. They will pulse occasionally, drawing in nearby players with a weak suction effect, and dealing a small amount of damage to them. Additionally, these crystals are involved in many of Ran's attacks and will respond to certain attacks.

Boss AttacksTips
  • Three-Hit Combo: Swings his sword three times, with the final hit launching any players hit.
  • This is the boss' most frequent attack. Because of this, using skills or items that provide Super ArmorSuper Armor are recommended to avoid being launched away.
  • There is grab after his second slash where you can reasonably jump over him or jump down a platform to avoid the final hits.
  • Dashing Flame Path: Targets a random player and dashes in their direction, piercing through any players hit. As he dashes, he will leave behind smoldering abyss crystals that inflict Self DebuffAbyss EmberSelf DebuffAbyss Ember on any players hit. This debuff lasts for 5 seconds and burns 5% max MP per second, while also causing any attacks to heal Ran.
  • The Abyss EmberAbyss Ember debuff can be cleansed by skills that remove debuffs or provide debuff immunity.
  • Ran may occasionally use this attack twice in succession.
  • The smoldering abyss crystals are spawned at certain distance intervals. When using this attack, Ran will always spawn 1 crystal and, depending on the distance traveled, will spawn up to a maximum of 5 crystals.
  • While Ran is able to pass through players, he cannot pass through walls. It is recommended to gather by the left or right walls of the arena to limit his movement during this attack.
    • Heavy mitigation is required, as this dash attack inflicts high damage per hit.
  • Abyssal Gravitation: Targets a random player and inflicts them with the Self DebuffAbyss GravitationSelf DebuffAbyss Gravitation debuff which lasts for 5 seconds. When the duration expires, a black hole will spawn on the player's location, dealing non-hitstun damage and continuously applying SilenceSilence.
  • The black hole has a weak suction effect, and will eventually disappear on its own.
  • If the black hole spawns close to an Abyss Crystal, a second black hole will spawn on the crystal's location. The black hole on the crystalwill not disappear until the crystal is destroyed.
  • The SilenceSilence debuff lasts for 3 seconds.
  • Reverse Gravity: Spawns a red magic circle on the ground. When a player steps on or gets close to the magic circle, a shadow clone of Ran will appear and lift nearby players into the air before exploding, dealing heavy damage.
  • The magic circle is significantly smaller than the one Ran uses inHalls of Water. However, much like that attack, players who are lifted up are forcefully immobilized and cannot move or attack until right before the explosion.
  • Shadow Arm: Ran uses his shadow arm to attack, launching any players hit.
  • This attack will launch players even if they are in Super ArmorSuper Armor state.
  • Tether: Links two random players together with a red tether. These players will be afflicted with the Self DebuffWave of Time and SpaceSelf DebuffWave of Time and Space debuff. Any other players or Abyss Crystals who touch this tether will be dealt non-hitstun damage. Additionally, any other players who make contact with this tether will have 5 seconds added to their consumables quickslot cooldown.
  • Solo Mode Variation:
    • The link will be between the player and Ran.
  • This is the only method of dealing damage and destroying the Abyss Crystals.
  • Space Finder: Ran teleports to the middle of the arena and spawns 2 rows of 8 spaces, while inflicting every player with Party DebuffFanatical AreaParty DebuffFanatical Area, severely reducing the efficiency of HP recovery items, and setting all MP to 0. After a period of time, the spaces will simultaneously explode, dealing fatal damage.
  • Players must enter each of the spaces and find a 'safe space', indicated by the area turning white/pale pink.
    • The safe spaces will often be spawned in certain patterns:
      • One safe space may be symmetrical to another on the same row, when divided down the center. eg: If one safe space is the second from the left, there may be another safe space second from the right.
      • When divided down the center, the safe spaces on the left half overlap with the safe spaces on the right half. eg. If one safe space is second from the left, there may be another safe space sixth from the left.
  • If multiple players enter a space at the same time, the space will turn dark purple for a few seconds. Any players who remain in this dark purple space will be randomly teleported to another space.
  • Example pattern showing 3 dark purple spaces in the top row, and 3 white spaces in the bottom row

Phase Gimmick

The arena of Phase 2 lacks any walls and features pitfalls on the left and right ends of the stage. Players who fall will be killed instantly and must wait the standard 15 seconds before they can be revived.

Boss

Shadow of Greed
Ran transformed through the power of the Seed of Life and the Abyss.
  • Compared to Phase 1, this attack deals greater damage and covers a greater range and launch players significantly further away.
  • Connecting Space: Targets two random players with a Self DebuffConnecting SpaceSelf DebuffConnecting Space debuff that lasts 10 seconds. Upon duration expiry, a portal will be placed on the ground where the targeted player is standing.
  • Players can enter these portals and teleport between the two locations. However, there is a 3 second cooldown in between portal usages, indicated by the Self DebuffFatigueSelf DebuffFatigue debuff.
  • Outside ofImmense Power Release, it is recommended to place the two portals directly on top of each other, as to prevent players from randomly teleporting during the fight.
  • Flame Path: Summons a dark flame that spreads to the left and right of the Shadow of Greed, covering most of the platform. Any players who come into contact with this flame will receive two debuffs: the first is the Self DebuffAbyss EmberSelf DebuffAbyss Ember from phase 1 and lasts for 5 seconds. The second is an Self DebuffEnhanced Abyss EmberSelf DebuffEnhanced Abyss Ember debuff which functions the same as the regular Abyss EmberAbyss Ember, but lasts for 3 seconds andcannot be removed via debuff removal/immunity skills.
  • Solo Mode Variation:
    • Flame path will only cause damage to you and not apply any debuffs.
  • The flames are capable of reaching up one platform above.
  • Immense Power Release: Ran teleports to a random player and begins preparing a devastating strike, indicated by a red rectangular zone. This attack will instantly kill any players inside the red zone and bypasses any resurrection effects. Players must use the portals fromConnecting Space to quickly traverse outside of the red zone.
  • The attack covers most of the screen, and depending on latency, the attack may linger briefly after the visuals go off.
  • Ran will perform this attack a certain number of times depending on his HP at the start of this mechanic:
    • If his HP is greater than 200 bars, he will perform this attack 2 times.
    • If his HP is between 100~200 bars, he will perform this attack 4 times.
    • If his HP is less than 100 bars, he will perform this attack 6 times.
  • It is recommended to place the portals just off the edge of the highest platform on each side. Afterwards, players will gather on the highest platform and wait for Ran to teleport to them, before descending into the portal.
  • It is possible for Ran to teleport on top of a portal and prevent players from entering it.
  • In the event the portals are misplaced and/or Ran is teleported to an undesirable location, players will have about 3 seconds after the red danger zone appears before the attack goes off. For less mobile characters such asRaven, it is recommended to utilizeHyper Acceleration or similar abilities that increase speed.
  • It is not recommended to attempt attacking Ran during this mechanic, as it is easy to accidentally bait Ran to an undesirable location, and/or prevent yourself from dodging the attack as a result of animation lock.
  • Ran will only use this attack on every fourth cast ofConnecting Space.
    • Most of the time, this attack will occur shortly afterSummon Crystals.
  • Unstable Aura: Summons a piece of Abyssal aura nearby that explodes after 5 seconds. One player is able to pick up and move this aura by coming into contact with it. If the aura explosion hits Ran, he will restore 60 bars of HP and gain increased attack for a short period of time.
  • Solo Mode Variation:
    • Piece of Abyssal aura will spawn at either the left or right side of the map. It will be indicated from the pop up that appears and you should lure the boss to the opposite direction to where the aura spawned. HP restoration is reduced too.
  • Once picked up, the aura cannot be passed to another player.
  • The player holding the aura is denoted by the aura appearing above their head, or by the Self DebuffUnstable AuraSelf DebuffUnstable Aura debuff icon.
  • The explosion covers your entire screen. The explosion will not harm the player carrying the aura, but will inflict heavy damage and knockback to all other players.
    • This knockback ignores Super ArmorSuper Armor, so it is possible for players to be knocked off the arena.
  • While the aura cannot spawn directly on top of a player, it is able to spawn very close by, to the point where it is possible to accidentally pick up the aura simply from attack/skill animations.
  • Summon Crystals: Ran dashes off the side of the arena, becoming invincible, and summons dark abyssal crystals randomly across the arena, one for each player. After a few seconds, he will dash horizontally from one side of the arena to the other, through the middle level.
  • Each player will be connected to a random crystal via a tether. Players must stretch this tether such that it crosses the middle platform and reaches the opposite side. eg: If a player is tethered to a crystal on the bottom-most platform, the player must stand on the upper-most platform. If performed correctly, Ran will halt at the end of his dash. If any tethers are not successfully severed, all players will be inflicted with Self DebuffSilenceSelf DebuffSilence for 20 seconds, and have their consumable quickslots set on cooldown for 40 seconds.
  • If a player comes into contact with another player's tether, they will receive a Self DebuffLeg InjurySelf DebuffLeg Injury debuff for 8 seconds, dealing continuous damage and preventing them from dashing.
    • On some servers, it is recommended to stand close to your tethered crystal until everyone has found their crystal, as to reduce the chances of inflicting Leg InjuryLeg Injury on each other.
  • Gravity Field: Creates a large field around himself that continuously inflicts Self DebuffColossal GravitySelf DebuffColossal Gravity to any players inside, drastically reducing their movement, jump, and action speeds. This debuff stacks up to 4 times, and on the 5th stack, it is removed and the player is instead inflicted with Self DebuffFlattenedSelf DebuffFlattened for 1 second, before repeating.
  • The outer edges of the field will pulse, making it difficult to determine where the field ends.
  • It is possible for players to be pushed inside the field by Ran's attacks, even if they are in Super ArmorSuper Armor.
  • Ran will occasionally useUnstable Aura alongside this attack.
  • The debuff lasts for 10 seconds, but its duration is continuously refreshed with each stack.

Phase Gimmick

Players will gain access to two sources of energy, indicated at the top of their screen: Abyss energy (purple), and Shadow energy (blue). Players will not receive damage from attacks of the same energy type, and similarly, will not be able to inflict damage to the same energy type. Players can switch between energy types with the Dungeon Special Function key (default: F1)

Boss

Attacks highlighted inred bypass invincibility frames.
King of Abyss
The power of the Abyss has become Ran's as he mutates further. He has become the Abyss's avatar, the King of Abyss.
Boss AttacksTips
  • Switch Energy: Ran will randomly start the fight with either Abyss energy, or Shadow energy, as indicated by the core in the center of his body. Players must switch to the other energy type in order to inflict damage. Ran will always switch to the other energy type after theAbsorption pattern.
  • Ran will always start on the right side of the arena. As he switches energy types, he will also switch to the opposite side of the arena.
  • Three Hit Swipe: Swings his arms three times, dealing moderate damage and knocking any players away on the third hit. Each time he swings his arms, he will cause small explosions to occur.
  • Barrage: Holds an arm out towards the center of the arena, and summons countless orbs that spread outwards from his hand.
  • Players are able to avoid some of the incoming damage by matching energy types with the incoming orb. eg: As a blue orb approaches, the player switches to Shadow Energy. After the blue orb passes, and before a purple orb makes contact, the player switches to Abyss Energy.
  • Abyss Devour: Ran will gradually darken the screen before it goes pitch black, killing all targets. Several sigils will appear around the map in either Shadow Blue or Abyss Purple, standing on these sigil with the appropriate energy active will generate a shield which will protect you from the attack.
  • Regardless of Ran's current energy state, sigils of both colors will appear. Naturally being protected by a shield of Ran's opposing color will allow you to still deal damage to the boss while under it's protection.
  • Unstable Abyss Power: Ran create several sigils around the map or corresponding energy colors, if allowed remain on the field for too long, they will explode, dealing lethal damage. Contacting the sigil while in the appropriate energy state will cause them to disappear. Each player will have a specific energy state, each corresponding to a sigil around the map.
  • Solo Mode Variation:
    • You will be applied with 1 energy state while a different random energy state will be around the map. Destroy both sigil to avoid damage.
  • Absorption of Power: Ran will draw in energy orbs which will travel from across the map. If Ran absorbs the energy orb, he will heal a significant portion of his health. Stop the orb by touching them while in the corresponding energy state. If four orbs are gathered before they contact Ran, a Light Orb will appear and strike Ran, forcing him to switch energy states and increasing the damage dealt to him.
  • Solo Mode Variation:
    • Only two orbs will appear.
  • The first orb is always imbued with Abyss energy and each subsequent orb will go back and forth between Abyss and Shadow.
  • While the first Abyss orb starts at the furthest point of the map, the subsequent orbs spawn relative to where the orb was gathered.
  • Ran is completely docile during the entirety of this move, making it an extremely good opportunity to deal damage before gathering the orbs, which would cause him to proceed toSwitch Energy.
  • Colossal Abyss Crystal: A large Abyss Crystal will start descending from the top of the map, if it hits the bottom floor, or contacts a player, it will explode, dealing massive damage. The Crystal must be destroyed before it touches the ground. After sustaining a certain amount of damage, the crystal will shrink to a much smaller size.
  • If you are hit by the attack, potion effectiveness will be decreased significantly for a period of time.
  • Alternate Space: Rope of Confession: The screen will turn black as players are teleported to a separate map with theAbyss Worshiper in the background. The Abyss Worshiper will proceed to perform theirRope of Confession attack.
  • If players are not on the center two platforms, they will be teleported into the attack's range in stun state. However, the attack comes out slightly earlier than its original version, resulting in stunned players taking a forced hit.
  • Alternate Space: Spider Web Explosion: The screen will turn black as players are teleported to a separate map with theAbyss Fanatic in the background. The Abyss Fanatic will proceed to perform theirSpider Web Explosion attack.
  • Alternate Space: Final Laser: The screen will turn black as players are teleported to a separate map with theDreaming Hatchling in the background. The Dreaming Hatchling will proceed to perform theirFinal Laser attack.
  • Alternate Space: Starlight Explosion: The screen will turn black as players are teleported to a separate map with theAwakened Myuriconus in the background. The Myuriconus will proceed to perform theirStarlight Explosion attack.
  • Alternate Space: Dream Eater: The screen will turn black as players are teleported to a separate map with theDream Eater in the background. The Dream Eater will proceed to perform theirSpace Division attack.
  • Dream Eater will always perform the attack 3 times.
  • Alternate Space: Rain of Orbs: The screen will turn black as players are teleported to a separate map with theNightmare Keeper in the background. The Nightmare Keeper will proceed to perform theirRain of Orbs attack.
  • Berserk: At 5x HP, Ran will regenerate to 120x HP, as a last resort Ran will throw everything he has in one chaotic mess of an attack. Ran will perform an alternate versionBarrage while also performingColossal Abyss Crystal. A series of blackholes will also appear randomly around the map for a period of time in the midst of this attack.
  • The version ofBarrage performed during this attack is a bit different, expanding from his core instead of an outstretched hand.
  • TheBarrage will continue indefinitely till Ran is forced to switch positions fromAbsorption of Power.

  • Raven:I thought he had something up his sleeve. But why that...

  • Elsword:We came to fight Ran. But that... That's not even Ran. What did he come to the Abyss for?
  • Elsword:Berthe, now Ran. I don't understand why they obsess over power they can't handle. I guess it's neat, but it's more difficult to use power than have one.
  • Aisha:Change the seed to have similar properties with yourself, to ensure a more stable absorption. Impressive... Not! If you can change properties so easily, alchemists will be out of jobs!
  • Aisha:Uaa... That was really difficult. I used every bit of my magic. Anyone who suggest entering an Abyss next time will be beaten with my staff!
  • Rena:I did it! Really... I thought this was really going to be the end. I know it's ironic for me to say this, but I can't believe the kind of things we get involved in. Huhu.
  • Rena:Chung and Ara look like burden lifted from their shoulder. They had a lot on their mind... I hope they can let it all go now.
  • Raven:Power again. What's simple is not always the answer. You were a bothersome tactician when we met in Hamel. Now, you're just a monster of the Abyss.
  • Raven:(I'm glad nothing serious happened. To withdraw away in case I hurt others, I became soft...)
  • Eve:I remember what Elesis said. There's two ways to have power. To use power, or to be used. So... Did you get what you wished for?
  • Eve:Ran, you must have thought you could gain what you have given up once you obtain power. You're not wrong, but what you've regained will not be the same as what you had. Like the Dream Demons of Magmelia.
  • Chung:Pathetic. The one responsible for ruining my father... Senace is someone like this.
  • Chung:I did it. I avenged Senace and was able to protect Elrios once more. But... Father... Where are you...
  • Ara:To be forgotten without being able to change anything. With no one to find or remember you. That's a befitting ending for you.
  • Ara:When you chase power, you begin to think that was the end goal, even though it started as a means to an end. But perhaps you'd be satisfied, since it's something you wished for.
  • Elesis:You were a great tactician who made a fool out of elite armies back in Hamel. The army you abandoned was your power. Just what were you after?
  • Elesis:Power thins out like needle the higher you climb. Absolute power, means absolute loneliness. You'll have eternity to figure it out in the Abyss.
  • Add:I admit, you are the true King of Abyss. Us lowly intruders will get out of your way. Enjoy your stay. Kuhuhu...
  • Add:Looking at him, I can't help but get the feeling that it's the demonic energy that's using the demon as a host. Tsk. I'm never stepping a foot in an Abyss ever again...
  • Lu:You coveted the Abyss, only to be swallowed by it. If you knew your place, you wouldn't have even tried something like this. Your ego ended up being your downfall.
  • Lu:You are right. We did not do our duty as the lords, but it wasn't without effort. However, an action without result, is an action not done...
  • Ciel:He doesn't care what he turns into as long as he has power? I don't understand what demons mean by power sometimes... Ah, am I being hypocritical?
  • Ciel:Yes, yes. You're the best. You have the right to be called King of Abyss. I hope you're happy ruling over your kingdom for eternity.
  • Rose:He was a terrifying, powerful enemy. We almost ended up not keeping our promise to go back.
  • Rose:Ran is not the first, nor the last idiot who sought power and failed. He may have been the most threatening, but it's nothing new.
  • Ain:What a complete idiotic mess. Let's make this a lesson to do better. If there is a next time.
  • Ain:It was better when he had his shell. I do not want to see your disgusting face. Please be gone.
  • Laby:Uahh... Ran turned into a weird monster! Is Seed of Life always like that?
  • Laby:It would have been bad if we were late even for a moment! An Abyss closing is so amazing! Laby don't want to go back anymore though...
  • Noah:The monsters of Abyss was stopping his escape. As if telling him he's part of the Abyss now...
  • Noah:That Seed of Life he used was different from what Titania used. How many of them are out there? What are they up to...!
