Overview

The 2025 Grand Wagoneer is the tippy-top of the Jeep model range. It's a three-row SUV that's more upscale and luxurious than the regular Jeep Wagoneer. Three-row seating is standard, as are plenty of Jeep's latest driver aids and technology features. The Grand Wagoneer can tow too, with a capacity of almost 10,000 pounds. For 2025, Jeep altered the appearance of the window sticker, which now lists a lower price across the board. Surprisingly, Jeep also enhanced the standard equipment levels with the addition of bigger wheels and tires, enhanced standard driver assist systems, and a few other things. The high-output engine also gets a power boost.

Cost to DriveCost to drive estimates for the 2025 Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4dr SUV 4WD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 8A) and comparison vehicles are based on 15,000 miles per year (with a mix of 55% city and 45% highway driving) and energy estimates of $3.87 per gallon for premium unleaded in North Dakota.

Edmunds spotlight: More stuff, better price

Jeep has managed something rare in the automotive world: giving you more stuff for less money. For 2025, the Grand Wagoneer adds standard equipment like 22-inch wheels, a front passenger display, and additional driver assist tech that includes a driver attention monitor, traffic sign recognition and collision warning at intersections. All that comes with a big price cut compared to last year's Grand Wagoneer.

Competitors to consider

You'll likely want to check out the Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon Denali and Lincoln Navigator. Just like the Grand Wagoneer, they offer plenty of space, features and towing capacity. Other worthy alternatives include the BMW X7, Infiniti QX80, Lexus LX and Mercedes-Benz GLS. Or, if you keep your budget in check, the regular Wagoneer might do as well. Read our test team's Expert Rating to help you decide which three-row SUV is best for you.

Performance

8/10
How does the Grand Wagoneer drive? We haven't tested the Grand Wagoneer with the turbocharged six-cylinder engine yet. However, we have tested other vehicles equipped with this engine, such as the Ram 1500. It provides robust power for all of your needs, whether that's towing a trailer or quickly getting up to speed to merge onto a highway.

The Grand Wagoneer has a decent amount of off-road capability, at least relative to other SUVs of this size. Four-wheel drive is standard on all trims. Its standard adaptive air suspension provides up to 10 inches of ground clearance. Unfortunately this Jeep doesn't handle on the road as well as its contemporaries. While full-size SUVs aren't exactly known for their nimbleness, the Grand Wagoneer moves with less composure and athleticism around turns than most other behemoths in this class.

Comfort

7.5/10
How comfortable is the Grand Wagoneer? Highlights in the Grand Wagoneer consist of excellent seat comfort, especially for third-row passengers, and a cabin well insulated against all types of noise. The front seats offer more adjustments than you probably need, plus decent heating, ventilation and massaging functions. The second-row seats also get heat and ventilation on higher-trim models, while the third-row seats can recline a bit and have nice armrest padding.

We're underwhelmed with the Grand Wagoneer's ride quality, though. This SUV is based on the Ram 1500, and its independent rear suspension and adjustable air springs should in theory improve the ride even more. The Grand Wagoneer smooths out small bumps just fine, but driving over bigger bumps can result in some uncomfortable body motions. Uneven pavement, in particular, can cause the SUV to move side to side pretty dramatically.

Interior

8/10
How’s the interior? If you're shopping for a large SUV, you probably want lots of space. The Grand Wagoneer obliges with ample amounts in all three rows, particularly when it comes to third-row headroom. Adults should be fine in any row. The air suspension can be set to lower automatically when you're parked to ease getting in and out. The auto-retracting side steps help out too. The second-row seats tilt and slide forward with the push of a button and create a nice pass-through for passengers to get to the third row.

The driving position is great, and it has comparable visibility to similarly mega-sized SUVs. What we don't like are the Grand Wagoneer's touch-sensitive controls. While we understand this attempt to modernize the interior, it's not executed right, and all it does is create distraction and frustration. The Jeep's buttons are sometimes unresponsive and don't provide any haptic feedback. That means you'll often have to take attention off the road to make sure you push a button correctly. Another problem is the touchscreen that retracts to reveal a wireless charger and power ports behind it. It's a neat idea, but in practice you'll have to choose between accessing that cubby and being able to use the touchscreen for many of its convenient controls.

Technology

7.5/10
How’s the tech? Jeep had good intentions here. The USB power ports are almost too numerous to count and there's a hidden wireless charging pad. But in our testing, we found that the charging pad doesn't securely hold a smartphone and would let the phone slip off, stopping the charge. The Grand Wagoneer does have wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is a plus.

The upgraded McIntosh sound system failed to impress too as we found it lacked volume when running some of our sample soundtracks. Despite our best efforts, we could not get the optional rear-seat entertainment system to work properly. The one saving grace for the Grand Wagoneer in this category is a fairly comprehensive suite of well-tuned advanced driving aids, most of which come standard. The adaptive cruise control and lane centering assistance are great to have in rush-hour traffic, and the surround-view camera system and blind-spot aids are very helpful in maneuvering in tight spaces.

Storage

8.5/10
How’s the storage? The Grand Wagoneer is between size classes, meaning it's longer than most three-row luxury SUVs but shorter than the extended models (think Navigator L and Escalade ESV). There's 27.4 cubic feet of space behind the third row, which outshines the previous leader, the Cadillac Escalade with its 25.5 cubic feet (though the Escalade ESV offers a whopping 41.5 cubes). And the Jeep offers a max 72.9 cubic feet with the third row folded and a max of 96.9 cubes with all the seats down. One huge oversight about the Grand Wagoneer, however, is its relatively low hatch opening height. Anyone 6 feet tall will likely have to duck under the liftgate as its hinge design provides poor clearance.

As far as storage for small items in the cabin, there are a decent number of options, though the spaces themselves aren't generously sized. We did find ample clearance and space for installing car seats, and the adjustability of the second-row captain's chairs made it really easy to access all the necessary anchors. The Grand Wagoneer also offers exceptional towing capability, with a max capacity of 10,000 pounds. That's good enough to pull a pretty big travel trailer, toy hauler or whatever else you're into.

Fuel Economy

7/10
How’s the fuel economy? The Grand Wagoneer gets an EPA-estimated 17 mpg in combined driving, which is a bit below what rival SUVs can get but not unexpected considering the vehicle's size and power.

Value

7/10
Is the Grand Wagoneer a good value? The Grand Wagoneer is definitely priced like a full-size luxury SUV and, on paper, has all the fixings of one too. And although it's one of the nicest Jeeps we've been in to date, it can't quite match the quality execution of some of its competitors and doesn't feel like a vehicle worthy of the price it asks. Some of the wood trim elements look cheap, numerous panels creak when you press on them, and all the glossy, touch-sensitive surfaces are smudge-prone and will be a pain to keep clean. Although Jeep added standard equipment and lowered the price significantly, it's still a bit higher than competitors, and our thoughts are unchanged.

Jeep's warranties are unremarkable. Basic coverage is provided for three years/36,000 miles, and the drivetrain warranty is five years/60,000 miles. Several competitors offer an extra year on one plan or the other, and still more throw in free maintenance, which Jeep does not.

Wildcard

7.5/10
The Jeep brand comes with a level of street cred that other brands strive for. Unfortunately that cred doesn't extend to the luxury segment just yet. The Grand Wagoneer is a decent first effort, but it ultimately falls short of what we consider to be a true luxury-class offering. While the Grand Wagoneer does wear the Jeep design language well and brings a higher level of off-road capability to the class, it fails to provide any real inspiration while driving on the road or to challenge the leaders in this segment.

Which Grand Wagoneer does Edmunds recommend?

Considering the lower price and added features, we think the baseGrand Wagoneeris the way to go for 2025.The more expensive Series II and Series III are certainly nice, but there's not as much value to be had from them.

2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Obsidian 4dr SUV 4WD (6.4L 8cyl 8A)
I purchased a 2022 Grand Wagoneer in May of 2022 after trading in my Ram 1500. Initially, I thought the SUV is beautiful inside and out, but after 1 day of ownership, my battery died. I took it back to the dealership where I purchased the SUV and they "gave me a new battery", but the same thing happened two more times over the course of 1 week. The service department had my vehicle … for almost three weeks trying to figure out what was causing the battery to drain. After they finally fixed the issue, I just didn't feel comfortable driving the vehicle. over the course of the next 5 months, I began to notice that the overall fit and finish of the exterior was off (i.e., panel gaps, unevenness) and the SUV seemed to vibrate at highway speeds. In October 2022, I sold the Grand Wagoneer and purchased another Ram 1500. Overall, I think that this attempt at a luxury vehicle by Jeep fell short in many ways and I wouldn't recommend that any potential buyers wait another model year or two or take the Grand Wagoneer that you want to purchase home for an extended test drive.

2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Series III 4dr SUV 4WD (6.4L 8cyl 8A)
Its beautful and feature rich. But a headache from the start. My new 2022 Jeep GW Series 3 has been in the shop for over 100 days the first year of ownership for the same issues over and over again. Heated seat drivers side stops working, ok thats annoying but not a deal breaker. But when it slams on the brakes randomly for no reason and has constant failures of the safety systems, … including lane assist, its not worth the effort and time lost to get it fixed. Stelantis is awful and is making zero effort to resolve this matter. Off to arbitration we go. Avoid this vehicle like the plague.

2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Series III 4dr SUV (5.7L 8cyl gas/electric mild hybrid 8A)
I was very happy when I bought my brand new Grand Wagoneer III because its design and technology tools. Nevertheless after just 5k miles the engine started to overheat. I took it to the service and it's been 6 weeks already with no solution from Jeep. They said that there's no idea what's happening but on top of that their customer service is very poor. I've had to call every week and … they don't keep me posted. Worst experience ever with a brand new car. This is not reliable at all.

Been in the shop four times now for the same thing and filing lemon lawsuit now. Wagoneer Client Services is not helping. New tires twice and no fix in sight. Started at 2700 miles and still vibrates at 10K miles now. No one can fix it and it is getting worse! Beautiful truck but very poor experience from dealership and Wagoneer.

2025 Jeep Grand Wagoneer First Impressions

(updated 3/18/2025)

Overview

The Grand Wagoneer is the tippy-top of the Jeep model range. When it was launched it created a new sub-brand. Much like what Ford has tried to do with the Mustang name, the Wagoneer is its own family under the Jeep surname. It's a luxurious, spacious, tech-packed experience that rivals the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator. Three-row seating is standard for the Grand Wagoneer and the model packs the latest in driver aids and tech. The Grand Wagoneer can tow too, with a capacity of almost 10,000 pounds. Even though 2025 is this big Jeep's fourth model year on sale, we don't expect any major changes. Jeep may issue a face-lift come 2026, but for right now we think it's going to maintain the Grand Wagoneer status quo.

Edmunds spotlight: "Grand" doesn't equal size

The Grand Wagoneer might sound like it's bigger than the regular Wagoneer in the Jeep lineup, but it isn't. Grand doesn't mean bigger in this Jeep's case. Grand means more luxury, and you get plenty of extra goodies for your extra money. You get a much nicer interior with real wood and much nicer leathers throughout — you won't find American walnut in a regular Wagoneer. You also get the option of up to 75 inches of total screen real estate and a 23-speaker, 950-watt McIntosh audio system in the Grand Wagoneer that you can't get in the standard Waggy.

Competitors to consider

Thanks to the American market's incredible appetite for SUVs, there are plenty of other luxe SUVs to pick from. The Cadillac Escalade offers an altogether more well-rounded experience, but for more money. The Lincoln Navigator offers similar levels of comfort and technology but less off-road capability.

Edmunds says

TheGrand Wagoneer offers a genuine American luxury experience. It has the presence and space you'd expect of something in this class; we just wish it offered a more polished driving experience and tighter fit and finish.
