Evidence Based Training (EBT)

Effective flight crew training is a key part of safe commercial flight operations in aviation. The introduction of Evidence-Based Training (EBT) is the next step in the implementation of best practices across the European aviation community. In a first step, EASA published in 2015, theED Decision 2015/027/R for the implementation of EBT mixed. The publication ofRegulation (EU) 2020/2036 andRegulation (EU) 2020/2193 in December 2020 and alsoED Decision 2021/002/R on March 2, 2021 is a second step in that strategy that has brought the reality of EBT a step closer and this means there is now a lot of work to be done between EASA, National Authorities and industry to enable us to take advantage of the benefits of EBT.

In May 2022, further steps have been taken towards the implementation of EBT in the rotorcraft community. EASA has published theHelicopter EBT Concept Paper as part of Rulemaking Task (RMT) 0599 that builds the case for extending the regulatory framework into helicopter operations by setting out the baseline for a helicopter training programme and the different options available.
