With Aamir Khan's comments on religious intolerance in the country, Bollywood has been divided into two groups- one who are against the superstar and the other who's come out in support of his opinions. Here's a lowdown of how Bollywood reacted to Aamir's remarks.

Following a silent protest against the prevalent religious intolerance in the country, many directors had returned their National Awards as a sign of their disapproval of the policies and happenings. Soon, the entire issue caught fire and it became a huge national debate. A political one. Then, at a media interaction, actor Shah Rukh Khan was quizzed about the same and his comments resulted in huge uproar across the political belts. With ministers condemning his comments, calling him names, advising him to leave India, the issue slowly got heated up.
While everyone thought that the issue was over, Aamir Khan is the latest to join the bandwagon. In an interaction during a media summit, Aamir spoke at length about the issue, claiming that his wife Kiran Rao even contemplated leaving the country, fearing the well-being of their child in such an environment. Aamir's bold statements has now sparked another controversy. Albeit this time on higher levels than what happened with SRK.
With his effigies and posters being burnt all over the nation, people slamming him on the social network and even refusing to use any brand he's associated with, the issue seems to have gone out of hand this time. Not just that, expressing their opinions on Aamir's remark, many Bollywood celebrities have taken to Twitter and other mediums to voice out their feelings on the entire fiasco.
And it seems the issue has completely divided the film fraternity into two halves. While one side has taken Aamir's back on the entire controversy, the other crowd of people has lambasted Aamir for his comments. Amidst all the hullabaloo that is now grabbing headlines, here's how Bollywood celebrities reacted to the entire issue. Who said what? Let's find out!
IN AAMIR'S SUPPORT!
AR Rahman
Nothing should be violent. We're all ultra-civilized people and we should show the world that we are the best civilisation. Everything should be done classily. I feel what people are doing is very poetic. We should set an example for the world because we come from the land of Mahatma Gandhi; he has shown how a revolution can have an impact without any violence
Jackie Shroff
If anyone wants to protest about something it’s their wish, but people should be able to express bindass. Ask them (referring to Aamir) why they said something like that before jumping to conclusions. Respect the person’s view as that is also being tolerant.
Kabir Khan
Aamir didn't meant to say that nation is intolerant, but the atmosphere is intolerant. When Aamir used the word intolerance, he didn't target it to our country, he was simply referring to the ongoing scenario around us. He tried to convey that the result of this was such, that people including his wife Kiran's mindset has led to the impromptu questioning of running away. He did not literally mean that he's just packing his bags and leaving the country. Why would Aamir leave the country? He's the pride of the nation and he has made a significant contribution in making the country proud for us. Even we think of such questions but it doesn't imply that we'll go away and resort to some different place. Where would we go? It is our homeland after all. I can't say what Anupam Ji thinks but for me, I totally support what Aamir and Shah Rukh had said on this.

THOSE ACCUSING AAMIR KHAN OF BEING INTOLERANT PL HAVE DA TOLERANCE TO WATCH DA WHOLE INTERVIEW. NOWHERE DOES HE SAY HE WANTS TO LEAVE INDIA
— Sanjay Gupta (@_SanjayGupta)November 24, 2015#AamirKhan Moral of the story - Do not speak your mind in public, be diplomatic & keep smiling. Else face the wrath of the twitter brigade.
— Sanjay Gupta (@_SanjayGupta)November 24, 2015We are definitely not living in an ideal time. Atleast one superstar has the balls to speak his mind. He should be lauded and not hounded.
— Sanjay Gupta (@_SanjayGupta)November 24, 2015"That was a disastrous statement for Kiran to make." Aamir Khan's next line after saying that Kiran wants to leave. Hear the full interview.

AGAINST AAMIR!
Anupam Kher
Dear@aamir_khan. Did you ask Kiran which country would she like to move out to? Did you tell her that this country has made you AAMIR KHAN.
— Anupam Kher (@AnupamPkher)November 23, 2015Dear@aamir_khan. Did you tell Kiran that you have lived through more worse times in this country & but you never thought of moving out.
— Anupam Kher (@AnupamPkher)November 23, 2015Dear@aamir_khan. When did ‘Incredible India’ become ‘Intolerant India’ for you? Only in the last 7-8 months?#AtithiDevoBhavah
— Anupam Kher (@AnupamPkher)November 23, 2015Dear@aamir_khan Presumed country has become#Intolerant. Wat do u suggest 2 millions of Indians? Leave India? Or wait till regime changes?
— Anupam Kher (@AnupamPkher)November 23, 2015Dear@aamir_khan.#SatyamevaJayate u talked about evil practices but gave Hope. So even in ‘Intolerant’ times u need 2 spread Hope not Fear.
— Anupam Kher (@AnupamPkher)November 23, 2015Rishi Kapoor
Mr.&Mrs. Amir Khan. When things are going wrong and the system needs correction, repair it,mend it.Don't run away from it. That is Heroism!
— rishi kapoor (@chintskap)November 24, 2015Om Puri
He (Aamir) should apologise to the nation for what he said. In fact, if somebody was an ordinary man he would have been arrested for saying these words. You are trying to incite people against each other.

For his body of work and the actor Aamir Khan has been, I have a lot of respect for him, his work as an actor. My personal belief is that India is the most tolerant country in the world and has been for thousands of years.
