Spider-Man: Far From Home already had to deal with one significantAvengers: Endgame death, but it seems it added another to the list.

While the events ofEndgame loom heavily over the terrificHomecoming sequel, there is one moment early on that directly connects to the epic MCU movie. We're about to head into mildspoilers, so look away if you don't want to knowanything.

After the cold open, where Mysterio meets Nick Fury and Maria Hill, the Marvel Studios logo plays to the backing of Whitney Houston classic 'I Will Always Love You'.

Turns out this is an 'In Memoriam' video from Midtown Science High School's news hosts Betty Brant and Jason Ionello, paying tribute to the fallen Avengers who helped to save the world inEndgame.

It's a fun nod to the 'A Film By Peter Parker' scene that kicked offSpider-Man: Homecoming, but there's something more significant in the montage.

The expected people are in there – Iron Man, Vision, Black Widow – and there's also a name we might not have wanted to see: Captain America. Sure, he wasOld Man Cap the last time we saw him inEndgame, but he was at least alive (although he wasprobably 109, by our maths).

It's been eight months sinceEndgame at the start ofFar From Home, so it is feasible that Cap died in that timeframe. And we know that Chris Evans is unlikely to return as Cap in future movies, but would they really kill off such a major character off-screen?

The alternative is that since only Falcon and Winter Soldier saw Old Man Cap, then they just might not have fed that information to the wider world. After all, it's not like Cap would be getting back into the superhero business.

So it could be just that all the world knows is that Cap went back to return the Infinity Stones in time and was never seen again, resulting in his appearance in Midtown High's really quite terrible memorial video.

Endgame co-director Joe Russo had previously said that they didn't kill off Cap in that movie asthat's what people expected.

And if Cap has died in the time sinceFar From Home, it's safe to say we're definitely surprised now that his death has been confirmed by Jason and Betty of all people.
