Protesters on Saturday rejected Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s calls for dialogue and demanded the resignation of the entire government.

“We announce the abolition of the government and the fascist regime. That's why we call for a student uprising. We want to build a Bangladesh where autocracy will never return. Our sole demand is the resignation of this government, including Sheikh Hasina, and the end of fascism," announced Nahid Islam, a key coordinator of the Anti-Discriminatory Student Movement, at a rally of thousands of people at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital on Saturday.

“The government now says the gates of Ganabhaban are open for talks. We believe she (Sheikh Hasina) has already understood that the doors of Ganabhaban must remain open. We demand Sheikh Hasina's resignation, including the entire cabinet. Not only should she resign, but she should also be brought to justice for all the murders and disappearances in the country," Nahid Islam continued.

Nahid Islam said that the students don’t expect justice from the government, as he blames the government for the deaths and disappearances.

“This government has killed people and disappeared bodies. How will those who committed the murders provide justice? We don't expect justice for murder from this government. People from all walks of life are being killed, abducted, arrested, and tortured. On the one hand, arrests and torture are being carried out, and on the other, we are being called to dialogue,” said Nahid.

Nahid Islam said that the students will announce a united front with citizens, student organizations, and all professional people for the student uprising from the platform of the Anti-Discriminatory Student Movement. “We want to tell the people to come and join the spontaneous student-civil uprising that has begun from neighborhood to neighborhood, mohalla to mohalla,” said Nahid Islam.

The protesters named the united front 'Jatiya Sangram Parishad'.

In addition, demonstrations and mass sit-in programs will be held in all districts, upazilas, paras, and mohallas.

Furthermore, a 24-hour ultimatum has been given to open all campuses and halls. If the halls are not opened by Sunday the students will enter the halls on their own responsibility.

The Anti-Discriminatory Student Movement had made a nine-point demand earlier but has now narrowed it down to a single demand.

At least six coordinators were present in the front row at the Shaheed Minar on Saturday. They are Nahid Islam, Sarjis Alam, Hasnat Abdullah, Asif Mahmud, Abu Baker Majumder, and Abdul Quader. Three of them, including Nahid, spoke there.

Nahid also called for an 'all-out non-cooperation movement.' He said, “We will announce the national outline of Bangladesh before you soon. We call on the people to join the 'all-out non-cooperation movement.' The all-out non-cooperation movement will continue. We will not cooperate with or support the government. If the internet is shut down in any way, or if a curfew is imposed, we will resist it. We will barricade Ganabhaban if necessary.”

Later, another coordinator, Asif Mahmud, gave urgent instructions for the all-out non-cooperation movement.

The protesters started gathering at the Shaheed Minar after 2:30pm on Saturday. As time went on, the number of protesters increased.

The Anti-Discriminatory Student Movement held demonstrations across the country on Saturday. An all-out non-cooperation movement has been called from Sunday. Students and common people from different areas of the capital gathered at the Shaheed Minar area to participate in on Saturday's program.

Earlier in the morning, it was learned that the leaders of the Awami League and the 14-party alliance want to sit in talks with the coordinators of the Anti-Discriminatory Student Movement.

Awami League leaders said that three people have been given the responsibility of negotiating on behalf of the party. They are party presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak and joint general secretaries AFM Bahauddin Nasim and Mahbubul Alam Hanif.

However, the leaders of the movement now reject the dialogue and say there is no scope for discussion now. The decision will come from the streets.
