Help bring our sea lions home! 🦭

Our five beloved sea lions have been away since fall 2023—but their new, upgraded habitat is almost ready! Now we need YOUR help to bring them back to DZCA. 🩵

It costs over $23,000 to reunite our pinniped pod. This includes roadtrip expenses to bring four sea lions home this summer, funds to bring Nick home later this fall and travel funds for an Animal Care Specialist to help bring our sea lions home.

As a nonprofit, we rely on generous donors like you to make moments like this possible. Every donation helps bring our sea lions back where they belong—home. Visit the link in our bio to donate today!

P.S. Nick is LOVING his time in D.C. and will make his grand return in fall 2025.

🐢 Happy World Turtle Day!

These ancient reptiles are found all over the world and come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, and we`re proud to care for a wide variety of them right here at the Zoo.

From Tropical Discovery to Village Hall to Animal Ambassadors, turtles can be found all across campus, teaching us about the wonders of herpetology. On your next visit, learn more about the incredible adaptations, personalities, and conservation stories of these diverse species!

We`re honored to announce a new partnership with Kyambura Lion Monitoring Project, part of the Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust, in Uganda to help protect one of East Africa’s most threatened lion populations. With fewer than 40 lions remaining in Queen Elizabeth National Park, our support will aid in daily monitoring of the lion population, conducting an annual census of carnivores in the park, and training local Ugandans in scientific monitoring techniques.

In honor of International Day of Biodiversity, we’re sharing this inspiring video from our partners at KLMP showcasing their incredible conservation work. To learn more about all of our Africa-based conservation projects, please visit the link in our bio. 🦁
