George Goyder b. 24 June 1826

Surveyor, he explored much of the Northern Territory recommending what was then known as Palmerston as the capital, which was later renamed Darwin. He also devised the rainfall line of 1866, dividing fertile from drought-stricken land until it was regrettably abandoned in 1874.
