CCSD Fall Athletics Highlights
CCSD Fall Athletics Highlights
As the Calgary Senior High School Athletic Association (CSHSAA)/Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) fall athletics season comes to a close, we are proud to celebrate the incredible talent, dedication, and school spirit shown by our student-athletes across the district. From football to cross country to girls soccer, our teams demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, resilience, and pride while representing their schools and the district. Below are some of the standout moments from an exciting and memorable season.
Notre Dame vs. St. Francis – Senior Football Provincial Prep Bowl
On November 7, Notre Dame and St. Francis met for their annual rivalry matchup in the Division 1 Senior Football Provincial Prep Bowl. Due to this year’s unique scheduling circumstances, the game was held later in the season and took place at Shouldice Park instead of McMahon Stadium.
Nearly 2,000 students, staff, and family members filled Hellard Field to cheer on both teams. This marked the 27th meeting between Notre Dame and St. Francis, with the series tied 13–13 heading into the game. While Notre Dame secured the win this year, both the PRIDE and the BROWNS delivered an outstanding performance in one of the most iconic and well-attended high school football events in the country.
It was wonderful to see our CCSD community come together in support of this tradition and our student-athletes. With the series now standing at 14–13 for the PRIDE, we look forward to another exciting matchup next season. Congratulations to all athletes, and a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated coaches and school administration for their commitment and support.
Girls Soccer City Finals – Congratulations St. Francis and St. Gabriel
With girls soccer resuming in November, many CCSD teams made impressive playoff runs despite the colder temperatures and shorter daylight hours. Both the Division 1 and Division 3 City Finals featured CCSD matchups this year.
- Division 3 Final: Notre Dame vs. St. Gabriel
- Division 1 Final: St. Francis vs. All Saints
Congratulations to St. Gabriel, winners of the Senior Girls Division 3 City Championship, and to St. Francis, winners of the Senior Girls Division 1 City Championship. Outstanding work by all athletes and coaches!
Cross Country – Congratulations Father Lacombe and Bishop Carroll
The 2025 cross country season brought beautiful weather, new race locations, and the introduction of the first-ever team relay meet. Our athletes and coaches enjoyed an excellent season filled with personal bests and numerous individual podium finishes across all divisions.
CCSD proudly captured two City Championship banners this year:
- Father Lacombe – Intermediate Boys City Champions
- Bishop Carroll – Junior Girls City Champions
Congratulations to all runners and coaches on a fantastic season!
Volleyball
Stay tuned for volleyball highlights as the season wraps up with City Finals taking place this Friday and Saturday (Nov. 22/23), followed by provincials next weekend (Nov. 29/30). Congratulations to all teams who have already completed their seasons, and best of luck to those still competing—including Our Lady of the Rockies Senior Boys and Bishop Carroll Senior Girls, who remain in contention for a provincial berth!
