Inflation figures show why we can blame both Labor and Coalition politicians for our cost of living pain

Australia is in the grip of a new bout of inflation, and unlike the post-pandemic surge in prices, this one is firmly the result of government policies — not just in Canberra, but in every state capital.
Yesterday’sOctober Consumer Price Index (CPI) data — the first in the new era of full monthly CPI — showed inflation rose at an annual rate of 3.8% in October compared to a year earlier, up from 3.6% in September and above median forecasts of 3.6%.
