Polish Artillery Training Centre, Inveraray.

I'm a grandson of a Polish soldier,Stanisław Kaczmarek,who served in the1st Polish Armoured Division during WW2 under British command.While in Guildford, Surrey, he married my grandmother Irena, who served in the Women's Auxiliary Service, 2nd Polish Corps in Italy. The Combined Operations Training Centre near Inveraray, later accommodated the Polish Artillery Training Centre.

In 1946, my grandfather was a cadet corporal. After spending some time in thePolish Resettlement Corp at Witley Camp, Surrey. He returned to Poland in 1947.

Other info - plaque is fixed to the door of a WW2 building (opposite) which now serves as the caravan site reception office.


Location. The Memorial Plaques on the left are situated in Ardentinny Church on Loch Long in Scotland close to where the RN Commandos training base camp atHMS Armadillo was located.Other Info.These men often went ashore in the early stages of a landing.
