The pyramids of the Kushite rulers at Meroe, Sudan, are the world’s largest collection of pyramids (more than 200). Meroe, located between the Nile and Atbara rivers, was the capital of the Kingdom of Kush, an empire in Nubia that extended from the Mediterranean to sub-Saharan Africa between the 8th century B.C. and the 4th century A.D.
