'Whey aye!': Watch Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee impersonate his wife's Geordie accent

The love of his life was a Geordie.


So it may come as little surprise that the late Stan Lee's attempt at saying 'whey aye' isn't too shabby.


Tributes poured in last month after theMarvel Comics great died aged 95.


He co-created Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Hulk, the Avengers and Thor.

Now, a heart-warming 2011 clip has emerged of the comic book legend impersonating wife Joan's accent.

Smiling Stan repeatedly has a crack at saying 'Whey Aye' whileGateshead-born fan Andy Allom films him at the Harvey Awards.

Andy, who now lives in the Cayman Islands, said meeting his hero was the "greatest day of my life".

"Stan picked up on my being a Geordie straight away, and we immediately got chatting like old mates," he said.

"He was telling stories about Joanie in her accent and I got him to do a bit for the camera.

"It is beautiful and you won't see anything like it anywhere."

Gosforth-born Joan died a year before her husband, aged 93.

Stan founded Marvel Comics with Jack Kirby in 1961.


He and Joan were married for almost 70 years.
