Spelling sells stake in firm: Aaron Spelling, producer of such television shows as ”Charlie`s Angels” and ”The Love Boat,” agreed to sell all his stock in Spelling Entertainment Inc. to Charter Co. for $65.3 million in cash and notes. Charter, a Florida-based petroleum-products concern controlled by Ohio financier Carl Lindner`s American Financial Corp., also plans to buy 14 million Spelling Entertainment shares for $63 million from Great American Communications Co., bringing its stake in Spelling Entertainment to about 74 percent. Spelling, 67, said he will remain an executive with the firm but is selling his stock for estate-planning reasons. Lindner`s firm also controls Great American.
