Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)/Privacy Act (PA)

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act (PA) are federal laws governing access to government records. FOIA allows the public to request access to most government records, while the PA provides individuals with access to records about themselves. The FOIA is an information access law, and the PA is an information protection law.  For more information on the Census Bureau's FOIA and Privacy Act program, please see topics below.
