2024 KOOKABURRA Women's U17 Invitational

TOURNAMENT SCORES

This invitational tournament was organised and hosted by CDCA in Manawatū. In its second year, it was bigger than ever, running from 15 to 18 January 2024 at Fitzherbert, Ongley and Manawaroa Parks in Palmerston North

CD was in a position to nametwo CD Women's Under 17 teams for the invitational tournament, against four of the other five NZ Major Associations - with all but Canterbury able to attend

Final selections for the CD teams were made after the CD Years 11-13 Girls tournament in Whanganui in late December, with the "CD U18 Gold" team including some over-17 girls

Congratulations to Auckland U17 who were too good in the Final, CD U17finishing as the runner-up

CD U17 Men meanwhile headed off to the NZC Nationals from 18-25 January 2024 at NZC's High Performance Centre, in Lincoln, Canterbury, for a series of two-day and one-day matches

Canterbury was the only one of the six teams to snaffle an outright win in the two rounds of two-day cricket, and that gave them an advantage heading into the one-dayers with a solid lead on the points table

Canterbury went on to snare the title, but it was a good week for CD U17 who finished strongly with a win on the final dayFULL STORY HERE

2018/19 - WHAT A KNOCK

In January 2019, young Central Districts batsman Sam Ferguson scored a rare double century at NZC's Under-17 national championships! Sam carried his bat for an innings of 200 not out at Lincoln's Bert Sutcliffe Oval on 20 January 2019

2022/23 CD U17 WOMEN

CDCA hosted a four-team NZC North Island tournament for Girls at Palmerston North's Fitzherbert Park from 9 to 12 January 2023.

After a strong tournament, CD Under 17 Girls finished runners-up to Wellington U17, with Auckland U17 and Northern Districts U17 also competing in a mix of 35-over and T20 matches in the Kookaburra quadrangular tourney over the week. Exciting signs for the future!
