Capitals' Trevor van Riemsdyk: Scores vs. Ottawa
RotowireVan Riemsdyk scored a goal in Saturday's 7-1 loss to the Senators.
TheCapitals struggled to get anything going on offense all game long, but van Riemsdyk stepped up to score the Caps' lone goal with a backhander in the third period. This was his first goal of the season, though as a defenseman who rarely pushes forward, he's not expected to carry a lot of fantasy upside in the near future.
... See More... See LessCapitals' Charlie Lindgren: Concedes seven goals Saturday
RotowireLindgren stopped 27 of 34 shots in Saturday's 7-1 loss to the Senators.
Lindgren surrendered four goals at even strength and three on Ottawa power plays, as theCapitals couldn't find a way to slow down the Senators. The seven goals allowed were a season high for Lindgren, who hasn't been playing as much this campaign as he did a year ago behind Logan Thompson.
... See More... See LessCapitals' Dylan Strome: Sustains lower-body injury
RotowireStrome suffered a lower-body injury and won't return to Saturday's clash against Ottawa.
Strome entered Saturday's action with two goals and 10 points in eight appearances this year. He also set a career high in the 2024-25 regular season with 82 points, so he's a big part of theCapitals' offense. If Strome isn't available Tuesday in Dallas, then Connor McMichael will probably shift into the top six, and Sonny Milano will likely draw back into the lineup.
... See More... See LessCapitals' Rasmus Sandin: Remains out Saturday
RotowireSandin (upper body) won't play Saturday versus Ottawa, per Sammi Silber of The Hockey News.
Sandin also missed Friday's 5-1 win over Columbus. He has two assists in seven appearances this year. His next opportunity to play will come Tuesday in Dallas.
... See More... See LessCapitals' Declan Chisholm: Scratched Saturday
RotowireChisholm will be a healthy scratch Saturday against Ottawa, per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com.
Chisholm has an assist in three appearances with theCapitals in 2025-26. Dylan McIlrath will draw into the lineup versus the Senators and likely replace Chisholm on the third pairing.
... See More... See LessCapitals' Charlie Lindgren: Slated to start Saturday
RotowireLindgren will draw the home start against Ottawa on Saturday, per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com.
After opening the season with a 35-save shutout victory over the Rangers on Oct. 12, Lindgren allowed four goals on 24 shots in his next outing against Vancouver on Sunday. He'll look to rebound here against an Ottawa team that's dropped five of its last seven and remains without Brady Tkachuk (thumb). Given the matchup, Lindgren profiles as a solid spot-start option in this matchup.
... See More... See LessCapitals' Ethen Frank: Returns to AHL
RotowireFrank was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Saturday.
Pierre-Luc Dubois (lower body) was taken off injured reserve in a corresponding move. Frank had an assist and four PIM in two appearances with Washington during his latest NHL stint. He also has two goals in two outings with Hershey this season.
... See More... See LessCapitals' Pierre-Luc Dubois: Ready to return
RotowireDubois (lower body) was taken off injured reserve Saturday.
Ethen Frank, who played in Washington's last two games, was returned to AHL Hershey in a corresponding move. Dubois missed five straight games due to the injury. Now that he's healthy, the 27-year-old should draw into the lineup Saturday versus Ottawa and serve in a top-six capacity with a power-play role.
... See More... See LessCapitals' Graeme Clarke: Nets two goals in AHL loss
RotowireClarke scored twice on three shots in AHL Hershey's 5-4 loss to Lehigh Valley on Friday.
Clarke has had a decent start to the AHL season with three goals in five games. His offense slid last year with Iowa, where he had 16 goals and 37 points in 64 regular-season outings, down from point totals of 49 and 58 from the previous two campaigns with Utica. That's not a positive trend to see from a scoring winger who is now on his third NHL organization. TheCapitals have few NHL-ready prospects waiting in the wings, but with a strong crop of forwards in DC, it's unlikely Clarke gets much of a chance to contribute with the big club this year.
... See More... See LessCapitals' Ethen Frank: Gets first point of campaign
RotowireFrank logged an assist and two PIM in Friday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
This was Frank's second NHL appearance of the season. He's holding a spot in the lineup over Sonny Milano for now, but Frank could be the one who heads back to AHL Hershey when Pierre-Luc Dubois (lower body) comes off injured reserve. The 27-year-old Frank has a helper, four PIM and two shots on net this season after posting seven points in 24 regular-season outings in 2024-25.
... See More... See LessCapitals' Justin Sourdif: Tallies first goal
RotowireSourdif scored a goal and added five hits in Friday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
The goal was Sourdif's first as a Capital. He's emerged as a regular in the lineup this season, appearing in all eight games as a bottom-six forward. The 23-year-old has picked up 10 shots, 14 hits, four blocked shots and a plus-2 rating. His ability to play center will likely help him stay in the lineup, especially while Pierre-Luc Dubois (lower body) is out.
... See More... See LessCapitals' Tom Wilson: Pads lead on power play
RotowireWilson scored a power-play goal on two shots in Friday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
Wilson has four goals and five assists during his five-game point streak. The 31-year-old winger stretched theCapitals' lead to 4-1 while cashing in on Mathieu Olivier's major penalty in the third period. So far, Wilson has avoided the regression concerns that came with his 33-goal, 65-point 2024-25 regular season. He's at five goals, 11 points (four on the power play), 19 shots on net, 23 hits and a plus-3 rating through eight appearances this season. That pace is too high to sustain, but another 60-point campaign isn't looking far-fetched.
... See More... See LessCapitals' John Carlson: On five-game point streak
RotowireCarlson scored a goal on three shots and added an assist in Friday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
Carlson is riding a five-game point streak, which includes both of his goals and four of his five assists so far this season. The 35-year-old defenseman doesn't look to be slowing down in his 17th campaign, which is great news for his fantasy managers, who have come to expect a 50-point floor from the defenseman. Carlson has added 22 shots on net, 12 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over eight appearances in 2025-26, but it's the offense that keeps him a staple in fantasy lineups.
... See More... See LessCapitals' Connor McMichael: Earns two points in Friday's win
RotowireMcMichael scored a power-play goal on two shots and added an assist in Friday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
It's been a poor start to the season for McMichael, but theCapitals haven't needed to adjust too much since they're off to a 6-2-0 start as a team. With Friday's performance, the 24-year-old has three points, 20 shots on net, four hits, three blocked shots and four PIM through eight outings. He broke out to the tune of 26 goals and 57 points over 82 regular-season contests last year, but he'll need to pick up the pace significantly to get back to that level in 2025-26.
... See More... See LessCapitals' Alex Ovechkin: Inching closer to milestone
RotowireOvechkin scored a goal on three shots, added a power-play assist and logged two hits in Friday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
Ovechkin's goal was the 899th of his career, putting him one away from the next big milestone on his checklist. The 40-year-old has a pair of multi-point efforts over his last four games and continues to be a consistent part of theCapitals' top six and first power-play unit. On the year, he's at two goals, five helpers, 19 shots on net, 17 hits and a plus-6 rating across eight contests.
... See More... See LessCapitals' Logan Thompson: Dominant in Friday's win
RotowireThompson stopped 34 of 35 shots in Friday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
Thompson won his fifth start in a row, and it's the third straight game where he's limited an opponent to one goal. The 28-year-old has been among the best goalies in the league to start 2025-26, going 5-1-0 with a 1.50 GAA and a .938 save percentage through six starts. Thompson hasn't often faced heavy workloads behind a stalwart defense, but he can hold the fort when he has to. Charlie Lindgren will likely get the nod for Saturday's home game versus the Senators, but Thompson should be between the pipes Tuesday in Dallas.
... See More... See LessCapitals' Pierre-Luc Dubois: Not available Friday
RotowireDubois (lower body) will be unavailable Friday in Columbus, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.
Dubois is getting close to a return as he is practicing in a regular jersey, but he is not 100 percent and will miss his fifth straight game. Dubois is without a point in three games and could return to the Washington lineup as early as Saturday against Ottawa.
