Red Wings' Patrick Kane: Won't play Tuesday
RotowireKane won't travel with the team to St. Louis but hopes to join them at some point on the road trip, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports Sunday.
Kane missed theRed Wings' last four games with injury after starting the year with five points in the first five games. The 36-year-old won't play the second half of the home-and-home with the Blues on Tuesday, but he hopes to re-join the team at some point on the west coast swing that includes games at the Kings, Sharks, Ducks and Golden Knights.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' Max Plante: Two more goals in win
RotowirePlante scored twice on four shots in the University of Minnesota-Duluth's 4-1 win over the University of Minnesota on Saturday.
Plante continues to impress for the Bulldogs, as he's up to seven goals and seven helpers in eight games. The 19-year-old has been one of the best players in college hockey to begin the season and should continue scoring at a high rate. TheRed Wings prospect should be quickly rising up the ranks after he was a second-round pick in 2024.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' Travis Hamonic: Draws in, earns assist
RotowireHamonic logged an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Blues.
Hamonic played Opening Night versus the Canadiens, but he was scratched for seven straight games before entering the lineup as a seventh defenseman Saturday. The 35-year-old is likely near the tail end of his career, and theRed Wings have more interest in giving minutes to younger options like Axel Sandin-Pellikka and Albert Johansson. Hamonic is likely to remain in a part-time role until injuries pile up on the blue line.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' Emmitt Finnie: Contributes goal in comeback win
RotowireFinnie scored a goal on two shots, added two hits and blocked two shots in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Blues.
Finnie is now on a four-game point streak (four goals, two assists). He got an unassisted goal Saturday, and it's impressive the 20-year-old rookie was able to get some offense going in a game that saw Dylan Larkin held off the scoresheet. Finnie is up to four goals, eight points, 17 shots, 25 hits and a plus-7 rating through nine contests. He probably won't keep up that pace all season, but fantasy managers should take notice, even in standard formats.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' Alex DeBrincat: Nets equalizer
RotowireDeBrincat scored a goal on six shots in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Blues.
TheRed Wings rallied back from a four-goal deficit, and DeBrincat's tally was the equalizer. The 27-year-old hadn't scored in the first eight games of the year, but he was busy as a playmaker with seven assists in those contests. The winger has added 34 shots on net and a minus-1 rating through nine outings. He's mostly played a second-line role this year, though if rookie Emmitt Finnie ever cools off, DeBrincat would be the leading option to move up alongside Dylan Larkin.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' Jonatan Berggren: Delivers two points in comeback win
RotowireBerggren recorded a power-play goal and an even-strength assist in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Blues.
Berggren found the back of the net at 7:52 of the second period, which reduced St. Louis' lead to 4-1, and he later assisted on Simon Edvinsson's game-winning marker at 10:48 of the third frame. Berggren barely saw action in the first two weeks of the season, but the 25-year-old has turned things around of late after cracking the scoresheet in each of his last three games. He has two goals and two assists in that span.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' J.T. Compher: Two points in win Saturday
RotowireCompher notched a goal and an assist in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Blues.
Compher had no points in his opening four appearances this season, but he's been turning things around lately. The 30-year-old notched his first multi-point game of the campaign in this comeback win after scoring Detroit's third goal and assisting on the fifth one, but he also extended his point streak to three games. He has five points (two goals, three helpers) over his previous five contests.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' Andrew Copp: Gets two assists Saturday
RotowireCopp delivered two assists, including one on the power play, in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Blues.
Copp didn't find the back of the net in this goalfest, but he came through with two helpers in the second period to set up Detroit's first and third goals. Copp has four points in nine games this season, and as a bottom-six forward who doesn't see time on the power play, he's not expected to carry much fantasy upside in most formats -- even if he has the occasional standout performance like in this win.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' John Gibson: Beaten four times, picks up win
RotowireGibson stopped 25 of 29 shots in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Blues.
Gibson was beaten four times between the first period and the early stages of the second frame. However, he shut the door afterward, and after receiving support from an offense that scored six unanswered goals, he ended up claiming the win. Despite winning three of his five starts this season, Gibson hasn't been a reliable presence between the pipes for Detroit. He's allowed at least four goals in three of those outings while stopping 107 of the 123 shots he's faced thus far.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Scores twice Saturday
RotowireEdvinsson scored two goals, including the game-winner, in Saturday's 6-4 victory over the Blues.
TheRed Wings scored six unanswered goals to turn a 4-0 deficit into a 6-4 victory, and Edvinsson played a key role in the comeback after netting Detroit's fifth and sixth goals. His second marker of the game was scored on an empty net. The defenseman now has three goals in nine outings this season, but he's not expected to find the back of the net with any regularity. The 22-year-old finished the 2024-25 regular season with seven goals and 31 points in 78 outings.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' John Gibson: Facing Blues
RotowireGibson will patrol the home crease against St. Louis on Saturday, per Lou Korac of The Hockey News.
Gibson's two-game winning streak ended in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to Buffalo. He has a 2-2-0 record this campaign while stopping 82 of the 94 shots he has faced. St. Louis is tied for 21st in the league with 2.86 goals per game this season.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' Patrick Kane: Unavailable Saturday
RotowireKane (upper body) won't be in the lineup against the Blues on Saturday, according to Daniella Bruce of theRed Wings' official site.
Kane has resumed skating but will miss his fourth straight game. He has generated two goals, five points and nine shots on net through five appearances this season. Mason Appleton has been logging time in Detroit's top six due to Kane's absence.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' John Leonard: Stays hot in Friday's win
RotowireLeonard scored twice on three shots and added an assist in AHL Grand Rapids' 4-0 win over Manitoba on Friday.
Leonard is quickly emerging as a leader on offense for the Griffins. He's at five goals and seven points through four contests this season after posting 36 goals and 61 points over 72 regular-season outings in a breakout year with Charlotte in 2024-25. Leonard hasn't seen NHL action since 2023-24, but if he keeps playing this way, it'll be tough for theRed Wings to ignore his production.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' Sebastian Cossa: Shuts out Manitoba
RotowireCossa posted a 30-save shutout in AHL Grand Rapids' 4-0 win over Manitoba on Friday.
Cossa earned his first shutout of the season and the fourth of his minor-league career. He's 3-0-0 with a 1.67 GAA and a .943 save percentage over three games this season. Cossa has put up excellent numbers over the last two campaigns, but theRed Wings are taking their time with his development. Should something cause an absence for John Gibson or Cam Talbot, Cossa would likely get the call to Detroit.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' Trey Augustine: Claims second shutout for Spartans
RotowireAugustine posted a 24-save shutout in Michigan State University's 4-0 win over Northern Michigan University on Friday.
Augustine has two shutouts and a 4-1-0 record over five games for the Spartans this season. He's added a 1.78 GAA and a .923 save percentage. The 20-year-old goalie figures to continue seeing a heavy workload throughout the campaign after playing in no less than 30 games in each of his first two collegiate campaigns.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' Nate Danielson: Assigned to AHL
RotowireDanielson (undisclosed) was activated from the injured non-roster list and assigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Friday.
Danielson started the year injured but appears to be healthy enough to play now. The 21-year-old will likely spend most of 2025-26 with the Griffins, but he could be a call-up candidate if he plays well.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' Michael Brandsegg-Nygard: Picks up first career assist
RotowireBrandsegg-Nygard registered an assist and five hits in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Islanders.
The helper was Brandsegg-Nygard's first career point in the NHL. The 20-year-old has added 14 shots on net, 26 hits and a minus-4 rating over eight games. He's filling a third-line role in his first taste of NHL action, but he'll need to work on his scoring touch to become a fantasy option in redraft formats. Managers in dynasty leagues can continue to hold onto the Norwegian winger throughout his development process.
... See More... See LessRed Wings' Jonatan Berggren: Nets first goal of season
RotowireBerggren scored a goal on three shots in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Islanders.
Berggren's tally late in the third period had no impact on the contest, but it was his first goal of the season. He's at two points, six shots on net, four hits and a minus-2 rating over four appearances. The 25-year-old winger has made the most of limited action so far, which could help him stay in the lineup once Patrick Kane (upper body) returns. Berggren is likely competing with Elmer Soderblom, Michael Rasmussen and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard for two or three spots in the lineup, though James van Riemsdyk may also sit out as a healthy scratch for rest during back-to-back sets.
